A chapter closes & another begins. There will never be another long roadtrip to a conference game or checking you out of school early to catch a flight.
You'll be traveling w/teammates & adults, not named mom, to your next match, and I couldn't be more excited for you both.
I am infinitely proud of each of you. Much of which has nothing to do w/a game winning goal, beating a defender or any ECNL All Conference or All American accolades.
A piece of paper, hardware or camp invite will never define your individual talent or greatness.
I am most proud of your fight. The perseverance to keep going no matter what storm may arise & finding a way to thrive in an environment that, at times, was not for you.
I am proud bc you still got up, got dressed for each & every training, every game. But you didn't just show up, you (mostly) showed out.
I know Papa has told you countless stories about your mom in sports...but really, I'm not here to raise you to be me.
I'm teaching you the tools to be better--
I pray you grow in confidence & courage to believe in you what I have always known to be.
And, be kind to yourself. The world is critic enough.
I am grateful for all the memories, good & not so good. Know that I was honored to do it all, never burdened. And I thank each of YOU. Witnessing you thrive & experience joy on the pitch not only warmed my heart but your success reminded a less confident, younger Christina that she really was that good.
Always remember you're each my daughter first, far greater than the soccer player. Above all, a child of God. Walk in & with His light. I got 42 days. DFW ain't ready. Me either, actually, but I will be.
