None of you are familiar with the brilliant graphic novel that is Red Son: an imagining of what if superman had landed in Soviet Russia. This is the iconic poster used in that work of art. In the original there's a hammer and sickle on his chest. Sad no one seems to have read it.

No. If you need an off ramp in a war you started, it's not because you're winning.

@AmmarRashidT @Bushra1Shaikh People talk about nukes as if its videogame. The more nukes you the more responsible you need to be . These are not toddler toys and global conflicts not street brawls or something.

@Bushra1Shaikh Agree Bushra, I think the most sensible thing to do in that situation was not to push for a ceasefire but to start nuclear brinksmanship. It makes me really sad that brain drain to the UK has deprived our country of some its most brilliant minds.

When Donald Trump threatened to kill Iran's civilization, Pakistan could have responded with threatening to nuke Israel if the U.S tried it.

@MCIAZayyan And in these circumstances Mediation by third party becomes even challenging and nearly impossible we need to remember there were two times negotiations and were derailed on false expectations that regime would fall . Negotiations to be held third time is near to impossible

It's not truly over, but Trump & Netanyahu caused immense destruction & made everything worse. Iran still has nuclear material, missiles, drones, proxies & now proven leverage over the Strait of Hormuz. At least Israel can say they have a weakened Iran, the US got nothing useful.

Many Middle Eastern Muslims hold an extreme superiority complex over "inferior, dark-skinned, Hindu Indian P*kis" but are also rabidly jealous that Pakistan can defend itself from the kind of threats they are expertly helpless against. Meanwhile, Pakistanis genuinely love them.
Zayyan@MCIAZayyan

Pakistan constantly taking flak from random, obliterated desert people from under the shadow of Israeli drones, despite the fact Pakistan has been pushing harder for a ceasefire than anyone.

And now confirmed by Axios: Progress has been made between U.S.-Iran talks via Pakistan. Negotiations to continue till deadline. Mind you, there's still 6 hours to go. It's going to be a long night. axios.com/2026/04/07/ira…

@GeromanAT Moreover, Pakistan already in War against Talibans in the north and threat of India loops from East so pakistan is no way ready to be part of another disaster like war on terror against Iran. Security apparatus in Pakistan understands it very well

@GeromanAT Pakistan province with Balochistan is already in Insurgency and Pakistan cannot afford have resurfacing of Shia Militias in the currently along with Baloch separatists and Wahabu groups such as Taliban and thus Pakistan wont be allowing any soil used against Iran by US

No - the US regime is in Pakistan to convince them to open their soil for an US ground attack on Iran. The rest is fiction.

🇮🇷🇵🇰🇺🇸🇮🇱 Reuters is reporting that Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has been in contact "all night long" with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi for a settlement deal. 🔸Under the proposal, a ceasefire would take effect immediately, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with 15–20 days to finalise a broader settlement. The deal, tentatively dubbed the "Islamabad Accord," would include a regional framework for the strait, with final in-person talks in Islamabad. 🔸There was no immediate response from U.S. and ‌Iranian officials. Pakistan's foreign office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi declined comment. Iranian officials have previously told Reuters that Tehran was seeking a permanent ceasefire with guarantees they will not be attacked again by the U.S. and Israel. 🔸 Iran has received messages from mediators including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt according to the outlet. 🔸️Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ismael Baqaei confirms that they received the said proposals however, Iran won’t reopen the strait of Hormuz in exchange for a “temporary ceasefire”, while the US lacks the readiness for a permanent ceasefire, the official was quoted as saying. Tehran will not be pressured into accepting deadlines and making a decision, the official added.

Economist editor @shashj shared an unsourced claim that this health center famous for its vaccine research was producing biological weapons; when this was pointed out he defended himself and then deleted it without explanation. Now that the IDF has simultaneously denied and refused to explain why it directly struck the center I hope he will clarify to his readers his own comments.
Shirin Jaafari@Shirinj

The @IDF response to my question about the attack on the Pasteur Institute: "The IDF struck a military headquarters of the Iranian terror regime in Tehran, which the regime deliberately constructed near the Pasteur Institute." My follow up: From the videos and images available, we can see that the Institute was destroyed, but not any of the surrounding buildings. Did the IDF miss or mistake its intended target? Also, there are no publicly visible military headquarters near the Institute as far as I can tell. If anyone knows of it, please share.🙏 Their response to my follow up: "We have no further comment."
