There has been recent re-occuring noise concerning the drug verification system, basically consumables as a whole, I believe sparked from a simple idea @the_beardedsina had almost a week ago. From people suggesting solutions, developing API's, designing interfaces. But all these doesn't solve the main solution of authenticity and accurate verification. Your QR codes, Interface designs and API suggestions does not stop a product or drug from being fake, we have to look outside of that and look at the system. It needs to be adjusted. That's why I'll commend and give credits to @AdigweBright for his idea on Unique Scratch Codes - A Three Layer Idenitity System. Also supporting when @hackSultan said; "...We can't expect users to buy bar code scanners...", which is absolutely true. Note: The interfaces below are based off Mr. Adigwe Bright's idea and isn't designed to exist as a seperate system or product on it's own, but more of an integration in an already existing verification system like that of @NafdacAgency or any others worldwide. @_olashubomii For goods like consumables where millions of units of a products can be produced it's not profitable for manufacturers. It would cost more to print unique labels on units. It would add to the production cost.

Scan a product to verify its authenticity✨ WIP 🚧

I think you understand the flow of the system being proposed, but not the technicalities, which is not a bad thing. QR codes are one of the ways to represent data such as links, text, or contact information visually. When scanned, they resolve back to whatever data they were generated from. There is no way to detect duplication, anyone can create or decode QR codes. Based on the proposed screens, here is how the verification system would work: A product’s NAFDAC registration number, which is a text-based identifier, would be converted into a QR code and printed on the product’s packaging. When a user scans the QR code using the app, the app resolves it back to the NAFDAC registration number. It then uses that number to query NAFDAC’s database, which returns the relevant product information for verification.

@AdigweBright @richsongocrazy I stand to be corrected though,a system can flag an item if the QRCode if it has been duplicated. Slapping a NAFDAC no.(which ppl still trust btw) on a product is way easier nau. This can give details about what/where you got an item so NAFDAC officials can clampdown.

Nice design chief. But this has a lot of flows actually. It won’t solve the actual problem.

NAFDAC number proves that a product is registered. "COCA COLA LESS SUGAR CARBONATED SOFT DRINK (PET)" has a NAFDAC number of A8-0066 meaning the product has been vetted by NAFDAC to meet safety, quality, and efficacy standards and you can verify that using the NAFDAC number. The number is the same across all Coca-Cola PET bottles.

I shortly contracted with a company building exactly this some time last year as a backend engineer. The problem is real but this solution is nothing but a gimmick. I don't think there's any world in which it works. 1. You're not going to convince hundreds of thousands of companies to start printing your QR codes on their products. 2. You're not going to convince millions/billions of consumers to download your app to verify the authenticity of products. 3. Let's assume you're able to pull the above off, it still doesn't solve any problem because a counterfeit product can easily copy the QR code and print it in their label. I respect the attempt at combating counterfeit products but this solution again is a gimmick at best.

Agents are not leaving the equation anytime soon. You need to understand the fact that Landlords ABSOLUTELY love working with Agents. A landlady called into a radio program to share a homeowner’s perspective and explain how valuable agents are in managing rental properties. She recounted how she used to collect rent directly from her tenants, but it became so difficult because they "always" refuse to pay rent on time that she eventually had to outsource the task to an agent. One particular tenant, a woman living in the same building as her, was notorious for defaulting on rent, mainly due to "familiarity". Later, that same woman approached her on behalf of her son, who wanted to rent another of her properties. Given their familiarity, she offered the rent at ₦100k, but the woman insisted on paying only ₦80k. After going back and forth, the landlady decided not to rent to the family at all, knowing the mother’s history of non-payment. Ironically, the family eventually rented the apartment but through an agent. This time, they paid the full ₦100k in rent, plus an additional ₦60k as an agent’s fee. The landlady said she’s much happier using an agent now, no more dealing with tenants directly, and she gets her rent on time WITHOUT STRESS.

@akinkunmi Yes it would, a single company like Coca cola can comfortably roll out as much as 20million units each day. And that's just one manufacturer. Nothing beats a working quality control body.

@AdigweBright Exactly and if they wanted to, there would be a lot of push back because having a unique identifier for each unit would significantly increase the package production cost as each one has to be unique.

Maybe not that heavily. The serial number on an individual product is already unique to a product. NAFDAC can just give each company a unique identifier (I believe this too is already in place for registered companies.) Just stamp your company's unique code behind individual product serial numbers and you're good to go. Forward to NAFDAC as your production. They load it to their DC - the only source of verification. It can work.
