Nuclear power looked dead. Plants shut down. Activists celebrated. Turns out they celebrated too soon. Watch nuclear’s comeback here:

@PolitlcsUK I can see the promise to "tread lightly on your lives" is going well. The most authoritarian UK government since Cromwell and the most farcical.

As a woman who was suspended by labour for simply saying what a woman is, I can tell you that they will never have a female leader because it’s the most sexist boys’ club that exists

Voting, marry, joining the military, signing contract, buying alcohol/tobacco/cannabis/vapes, gambaling and getting a tattoo should all be 18. If you are considered an adult at that age you should get all the rights and responsiblities that come with it. It is the most coherent, logical and consistant position.

@Admalez Disagree. Different rights come with different responsibilities and have different effects on third parties. I'd like to, for example, reduce the school leaving age back to 14 without reducing the voting age or age of consent also to 14

@cjsnowdon I am sure the economists in ASH can come up with a scary "lost productivity" figure to show why you are wrong.

@JakeWSimons This kind of stuff is why I don't donate to major charities anymore. Even if I agree with their main stated goal, I don't want my money going to causes I disagree with. There is way too much mission creep going on.

This is your legacy on the occupied Palestinian territory, Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. History will remember your complicity. Despite a partial arms suspension in 2024, Keir Starmer's government has continued to enable Israel's atrocities against Palestinians, their families and children through the supply of F-35 fighter jet parts. Nothing can change the horrors Palestinians have faced. But the next Prime Minister has an opportunity to put an end to the UK Government's role as an ally to atrocities. The UK Government must: 🔴 Suspend all arms sales to Israel 🔴 Suspend the UK-Israel trade and partnership agreement 🔴 Ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements To the next Prime Minister: what will your plaque say?

@vulpine2020 @PolitlcsUK Most of them are going to vote Green if they can be bothered to vote. I don't think extending it to 16-17 year olds is the win Labour are hoping for. Especially when they are doing a good job of alienating them.

@Admalez @PolitlcsUK Unfortunately most 16 year olds are not very perceptive. They’re not yet fully equipped to vote.

@vulpine2020 @PolitlcsUK I am most certainly put off voting Labour by their constant economic destruction and regular desire to needlessly intrude into people's lives.

One thing I know Ann Widdecome would absolutely take issue with is the diminution of the freedom of speech under the pretext of clamping down on ‘hate’. She wouldn't want her death hijacked by that. She'd make it absolutely clear that one person's apprehension of ‘hate’ is another's robust articulation of an unpalatable truth; and that we should be free to offend and cause offence, and those who take offence at the reasonable expression of belief should grow up. Civility is important, but the slightest whiff of ‘hate’ is now met with allegations of incivility, of which she was herself often accused. Her tolerance of “hate propagated online” would be far, far higher than that of any Labour (or LibDem) MP.
Lucy Powell MP@LucyMPowell

Earlier today I paid tribute to Ann Widdecombe, called for more civility in political debate and for further action to tackle hate propagated online.

@thetimes The vast majority of drivers will ignore them. Speed limits should be appropiate for the road in question and not super imposed because they are safer on paper.
