Yes, I do what he used to do and just submit to me without me knowing where to ask or criticize. AI has enhanced my capabilities. Apparently, he has also decided to learn a full course on AI for Accounting @Coursera Now we work in the most efficient way. And yes, sometimes people just acquire certificates and titles. Unfortunately, I have faced that challenge with some experts in my 10 years of running a management consulting firm. It's nothing personal to CPA holders. By the way, we use AI, in insight reports, press briefing, performance appraisal, concept notes, ToR, Contracts, etc. We just do at insanely faster pace than our competitors since my colleagues have mastered using the tools.

@Afruturist Kaka eventually there is going to be somekind of replacement. Yes, people are worried, and get uncomfortable thinking about it and their feelings are hurt when you say it aloud BUT that's where the ball is rolling and there is no stopping it. Humans are still going to be humans.

@AndreAden70 @mBongo @Afruturist Yes, but its a bit nuanced. Just like with farming, when machinery (AI) can do most of the heavy lifting, you dont need a lot of people to work the same land. The world will need CPAs but with a slightly different skill set added. And possibly, not as many for the same workload.

Accounting is more than AI/S. Should we list the obvious things that our valuable CPAs do?
- Sign off on FS & Audit opinions (taking legal responsibility)
- Negotiate with counterparts.
- Ethically decide when there are conflicts of interest?
- Regulatory filings?
- Physical verification?

@mBongo @Afruturist What i find interesting is no one has actually pointed out what exactly is it that they think AI can't do in accounting at the moment? People are talking about bugs in AI as if they are a feature of AI instead of "imperfections" that won't be there in a year or two.

@mBongo @Afruturist Accountants (as an example), aren't going to be competing with AI. They are going to be competing with other accountants who use AI. That's correct way of looking at things.

@mBongo @Afruturist If at the moment, AI can do just 50%, of "accounting" even if imperfectly, that is a enough for people in that industry to realignment themselves accordingly.
