Cake day 🎂 Today I turn 49 🥳 and because I'm older than most around here I granted myself the chance of giving some unsolicited advices (or things I've learned) - Happiness is a choice - Patience wins the game - No one has it figured out - Don't fear failure, fear regret - Regret is heavier than failure - Let go of what you can't control - It's never too late to reinvent yourself - Kindness costs nothing but means a lot - Boring habits create extraordinary results - Not every argument deserves your energy - Listening becomes more powerful than talking - Rest is productive, guilt-free rest even more so - Most things don't matter as much as you think - Skills compound just like money, keep learning - Health is wealth. Everything else depends on it - Saying "no" is saying "yes" to what truly matters - Simplicity, time & freedom is the ultimate luxury - Enjoy the journey. The destination keeps moving - Don't quit too soon, most breakthroughs come late - Family and friends become more important with age - Regular breaks protect your energy, focus, and sanity - Travel is an investment in yourself, memories compound - Let go of what you can't control, it's exhausting otherwise - Keep exercising and doing sports, your future self depends on it - Keep being curious, it keeps life interesting and your mind sharp Some regrets: - Perfectionism - Not starting sooner - Taking life too seriously - Being too hard on myself - Not expressing feelings enough - Taking some people for granted - Not listening to my body and mind I just hope it's helpful and meaningful Laugh, hug and say "I love you" and "thanks" a lot Be kind and have emphaty Thanks to everyone following my journey :)

Unpopular opinion: “Extreme hustle” culture has poisoned the joy of building. The idea that you must grind 23 hours daily to succeed is toxic. Balancing life’s priorities is far more valuable and fulfilling than performing the “hustler” lifestyle.

@DonnyWals @AdrianAcostaPR Agreed. I tried that and it was simply not worth my time. I just want to build products people love to use and I don’t need to be chasing revenue — so I don’t. That’s not the ultimate goal. But I can appreciate some do and you have to play the game. Not for me though.

@RJ_Clegg That’s been my go-to for the last 6 months. My priority is reading over anything else (aside from family of course) outside my 9-5. Of course I want to build cool tools and a cool team of about 6 people and quietly build. I think it’s a great peace of mind.

@AdrianAcostaPR Once the joy is gone it’s a grind. Not healthy imho and not for me. I only work on my app a few hours a week when I get a moment The rest of the time it’s my normal job, family and reading. It gives me mental clarity and space so that when i get back to my app i have great ideas.

@DonnyWals I agree 100%! That’s pretty much what I wanted to share. To me it’s just simply not worth it and unhealthy. But I guess to each their own, right?

Idk whether it's worth it. To me it's not; it doesn't fit how I want to operate. To others it is; they want growth, revenue, more followers, more subscribers etc. If that's the goal, then I guess hustling is worth it. Is it healthy? I don't think it is. It becomes an obsession that doesn't feel healthy to me. But to others, it probably makes it all worth it?

@DonnyWals That’s true. But in all honesty, is it truly worth it at the end of the day? 🤔 Is it healthy? My goal is to build something that people use, have a team of about 6 members, quietly build my wealth. No noise. I’m not trying to hide, is just I think there are other ways to build.

@AdrianAcostaPR The most frustrating thing is that it "works". Growth hacking is effective, pleasing social media algorithms is effective, etc. I've tried playing the game a bit but tbh, I don't like it either

That's not a good idea, but it seems that I will ship the iPad version of my ARC Raiders companion app It is a dumb move for an app with fewer than 100 users. I know, I know, but it feels good to use it on iPad, and then it is a usable app on Mac as well.

Unpopular AND WEIRD opinion: Read philosophy books to be a better programmer. The way these books make you think with the logic within these texts are second to none.
