Oregon hospitals spent $2.2 billion in community benefit in FY 2024. That figure includes community health improvement programs, which target specific needs hospitals have identified in their communities. One such program is the weekly farmstand at @AdventistHealth Portland, which makes fresh produce available in an area that has experienced reduced access to healthy food. The farmstand is part of the mission of service at @ahnw, which has developed deep ties in the East Portland community.

When a grateful patient wanted to give something back to @AdventistHealth Portland, she started a knitting club. Lovingly crafted by a group of knitters and crocheters from East Woods Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, the blankets wrap patients with love throughout the hospital. The wraps come with gift bags and cards bearing words of encouragement. In the spirit of true generosity, the organizer of the knitting club that has brought so much peace and comfort has remained anonymous.
