6) Art Our main focus this week has been rebuilding the Character face base in the updated style, with every separate part of the face done individually. This becomes the base for all the traits in the Character NFT contract. We're also exploring the visual style of Ranks, so your Character changes it’s look as your rank upgrades. For the new Level Selection flow, we're building thumbnail illustrations for each level, giving you a sense of your next adventure before you load in. Building this in public means letting the community watch the game platform take shape in real time. Thanks for being here with us.

5) Kill The Boss: In-Game UI We're reviewing the next prototype of the in-game UI. The goal is when launching Kill The Boss it flows from loading screen to cinematic short that explains the lore behind Kill the Boss that flows into a tavern scene where players interact with the level select map, then into the game. The Tavern is where you see the world map, your rank, your current level, and what lies beyond. We're also looking at standing up in-game purchases from the lobby, so players can spend GULD to unlock levels and skip ahead of the rank progression if they want to.

4) Game Design: The July Tech Test The July Tech Test will include the first two levels plus the Spooky Forest to put the rank and progression system through its paces. This is still stress-testing in live production so we can hammer at the tech stack so progress will still reset after the test. Land the killing blow on the boss, earn GULD. We're also testing a new bonk cooldown strategy. Bonking players is useful for strategic betrayals, but it can also be used to hinder others, so we're exploring a 30-second cooldown on the attacker's bonk. You get one bonk, then you're on a timer. Spend it wisely. On top of that, we've started work on the BlockWURLD vision and a first pass at the farming and cattle loop for its future tech test.

3) Engineering The data storage layer is getting a major update, and it's beyond Kill The Boss. We're building it to support BlockWURLD and GULDslayer. Right now we're snapshotting the production database, running migrations locally, and testing before any big pushes.

Tech Test Wrapped Up. Thank you! 280,000 GULD was won by players in real-time right on AdventureWurld Chain. The tech stack held up. You can check the Conservator Contract (game reward pool) here and see it's empty: adventurewurld.elevatescan.com/address/0x23B1… We're going through the data now, looking at what worked and what needs to improve. What we're doing here doesn't exist in game development. Studios build behind closed doors. You get a trailer 3+ years later when it's done (GTA6 meme anyone?) We're pulling the curtain back and bringing the community into the actual process, the systems, the decisions, the iterations. These tech tests are how we build live on the blockchain with game rewards and with YOU. Up next: the bridges, progression and ranking system, and the NFT contracts for the Character System. We'll bring you along on that too.

8) UPDATE: PERFORMANCE Under the hood wins for this Tech Test are chunking and culling. Chunking alone reduces draw calls by over 50% and cuts CPU time by 37%. Culling work continues alongside chunking, the goal is to get fewer meshes in the scene through smarter dynamic loading and mesh merging by material and configuration. The foundation being laid here is what complex levels and games will be sustainable soon.

7) UPDATE: TILE SYSTEM The terrain art has been overhauled to a cleaner aesthetic — sharper, more vibrant, and unmistakably retro-blocky. Objects are now decoupled from terrain as well and we're introducing "tile flavor" — runtime variant generation with percentage chances that controls which assets appear where.

5) UPDATE: OUTLINES Occlusion Outlines have been added to the game. Units, players, NPCs, items are visible if something's hidden behind terrain, you'll see its outline through the obstruction.

4) UPDATE: PHYSICS Physics overhaul is in and Units apply real forces now. Chests feel heavier than units. Units feel lighter than chests. This unlocks real chokepoints in level design and adds a layer of strategy to how you move through levels and around creatures.

3) UPDATE: FACTIONS Factions are in. Creatures now have preferences over themselves and they'll go after their rivals - and you. Chickens hate rats. Rats hate chickens. The game board feels alive in a way it didn't before.
