Historians are legitimately divided (sometimes) on the legacies of the Gracchi, Caesar, Marcus Antonius, Cicero, or Octavian/Augustus. So where are the bad Sulla takes bubbling up from? Is there some pro-Sulla biography I missed?

Well, in the last day I learned that a non-trivial number of people apparently have edgy, contrarian takes on L. Cornelius Sulla. This is surprising b/c there really aren't matching divisions among scholars; the closest you get is, 'Sulla really believed his s***, but failed.'

@DeathCar72 The basic issue is that he does "contrarian hot takes" so often that it's become difficult to impossible to detect when he is being sarcastic.

Using the course website for grading, one can now see how many students actually even bother looking at their grades on a given assignment and it is....sobering.

In other contexts we talk about how communities of color are both under served and over policies. This is the school version: insufficient positive AND negative consequences for behavior, and so it continues. 5/Turned it took 5 tweets.

Lots of arguments on here about "just build relationships" vs "classroom management" vs "consequences" etc. My honest experience is that the correct answer to that is "yes, more of everything" and how this class proceeds through its day is I think typical. 4/?
