The announcement by President Trump about the potential peace deal is very good news. To make the deal effective we have to be realistic about Israel. We must recognize that a peace deal of any kind with the Iranian regime will be viewed by Israelis as an existential threat to their objectives, therefore they will seek to thwart the deal. To stop the Israelis from thwarting a potential peace deal, we will have to take away the military support that we provide that allows them to go on the offensive against Iran, and make it clear more will be taken from them if they attack Lebanon.

The military is not a place to show your personal style. It is a unified uniformed fighting force. With strict protocols that everybody must follow for maximum efficiency. Inclusion yes. Accommodation no. Regardless of your background, you follow the same rules and become a standard piece of the structured military force.

Dugans's bond was denied this morning in court, and he will spend the duration of the trial in federal custody. Among many reasons, some outright lies or at least omissions by the FBI, the closing reason by the female judge was "hate speech". Which is odd since that's not a legal category as far as I was aware. I got to sit in the courtroom with his wife and family during the process. The only words he spoke were "I love you" to his wife while being escorted out by US Marshalls. More to come.
