🌍 Today is #WorldRewildingDay - this year’s theme: Choose Our Future In the Affric Highlands, that choice is already in motion. Partners across the region are restoring nature at scale: expanding native woodlands, restoring wetlands, and creating space for wildlife to thrive.

These four beavers join the seven reintroduced last October and are settling into their new home. #GlenAffric provides plenty of habitat for them to integrate into the local ecosystem. Their activity will create and enhance #habitats for a wide variety of plants and animals, providing food, shelter, and breeding opportunities. We’re delighted to share that we’ve won the Nature & Climate Action Award at @RSPBScotland’s #NatureofScotland Awards 2025! The award celebrates projects that harness the power of nature to store carbon, support wildlife, and enhance landscape resilience.

@AffricHighlands has just won the Nature & Climate Action Award at @RSPBScotland’s Nature of Scotland Awards 2025! 🎉 This landscape-scale rewilding initiative is restoring nature across more than 200,000 hectares from Loch Ness to Kintail – reviving peatlands, expanding native woodlands, reconnecting habitats and boosting biodiversity. Last week, it was announced that the world-famous Glen Affric National Nature Reserve had become the 20th official partner of the Affric Highlands coalition, joining a rapidly expanding network of landowners, local communities, businesses and partners committed to large-scale restoration of the central Highlands. Glen Affric National Nature Reserve, managed by @ForestryLS, has joined Affric Highlands - becoming the 20th landholding in the UK’s largest rewilding landscape. Glen Affric contains one of the finest examples of the Caledonian forest that once covered much of the Highlands. 🌲
