BREAKING NEWS : President Bola Tinubu approves a 50% discount on all passenger train services operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation to cushion transportation costs for Nigerians during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The discount will take effect from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, until Monday, June 1, 2026.

Those words by Steve Jobs rang louder than ever today as I attended the Award Ceremony of the Maiden Edition of the Innovation Challenge of the Ministry of Interior, themed "Celebrating Creativity, Excellence and Transformational Ideas in Public Service," as part of the 4th Joint Union Week Celebration 2026. Joined by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, and the heads of our Paramilitary Agencies at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall, Maitama, Abuja, we recognised and honoured outstanding management staff whose dedication and innovative contributions have significantly advanced the growth and development of the Ministry. It was a humbling moment to also be presented with the Leadership Award for Excellence in recognition of the transformative innovations we have championed across the Ministry of Interior. In my address, I passionately reminded everyone that true leadership and public service demand that we live for nothing less than innovation. The pursuit of research and development is not optional; it is fundamental. After all, the quality of our research will always determine the quality of our solutions. We must therefore sharpen our creativity daily, not just for personal growth, but for institutional excellence and national transformation. As the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, we are deliberately creating a fertile ecosystem where innovation thrives, because in today's world, it is the best inventors and the most creative minds that shape the future and rule the world. Congratulations to all our deserving awardees! Your exceptional contributions remind us what is possible when dedication meets ingenuity.
