Swipe to see the tiny surprise Queen Mambo has been hiding… Can you spot it? “It was a rainy December morning. Most guests chose to go to the river because of the muddy conditions, but a few of us decided to go on a game drive... and I’m so glad we did. About 15 minutes from the lodge, the animals suddenly went wild, impalas and baboons scattering everywhere. I drove quickly toward the commotion, and that’s when I saw a leopard’s tail. It was Mambo! She climbed a tree and settled on a branch. I saw a large opening in the tree, but we were so focused on Mambo that we barely noticed it. Suddenly, she got up and began sniffing inside. After she disappeared into the hole, we finally saw the cub’s face peeking out and heard its tiny noises. Everyone was so happy! A few days later, the father, the Dictator, was spotted about 100 meters away, probably checking on the cub. With all the thick bush and hiding spots of Emerald Season, we are confident the cub will thrive!” - Guide James #LeopardsofLolebezi #wildlife #leopard #Africa 📷: Stephan Hofmeister

From the lion to the vulture, each plays a role in the cycle of life by feeding on what remains and ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Safari shows us the rawness of reality. It’s one of the most honest reminders that every ending belongs to a much bigger story.

"One day, we were notified of a leopard sighting. When we arrived, the leopard was resting on a low branch with a fresh impala kill. It was calm and relaxed, giving us some beautiful views. The guests were thrilled, as they’d been searching for a leopard for a long time, and this one was usually very skittish. Suddenly, a whole troop of about 30 baboons appeared, running straight toward it. Their goal seemed to be to chase the leopard away, maybe even attack it. Baboons can be very protective, especially at night, because leopards sometimes harass them. If provoked, a whole troop of baboons can even injure or kill a leopard. The leopard quickly descended, slipped through the trees, and disappeared. The baboons went back to grazing. It was a very rare sighting - something usually only seen on documentaries - but for our guests, it was one of the highlights of their trip." - Guide Tshidi #Leopard #Wildlife #Guide

Meet Matshidiso 'Tshidi' Banayana Phalaagae, a proud graduate of our Female Guides Program. "Hello! My name is Tshidi and I’m 29 years old. I am originally from Machudi in Botswana. I joined African Bush Camps in 2023 through their Female Guides Program. When I first joined the Program, I didn’t know much about what the role really involved, but I was curious and ready to learn. This job is so rewarding because you get to put what you’re learning into practice and, most importantly, experience the beauty of nature in a completely new way. I want to inspire young girls that women can achieve anything men can do. With determination, curiosity, and the right support, anything is possible." 📍: Atzaró Okavango Camp, the Okavango Delta, Botswana

The land does not belong to us. It never did. On World Wildlife Day, we are reminded that we’re only visitors: treading lightly. Conserving fiercely. Ensuring wildlife thrives for generations to come. Safari is about coexistence, not intrusion. Let’s continue sharing and conserving Africa, together. #WorldWildlifeDay2026 #Africa #Safari

“The animal sightings were extraordinary. The wildlife near [Somalisa Camp] seemed completely unfazed by safari vehicles. This tells me that the camps have earned their trust through non-invasive stewardship. On one of our drives near the camp road, we saw a herd of impalas with tiny babies. The adults stood in the road as we inched past, while the babies frolicked just a few feet away. Normally, impalas are far more skittish. Later, we came across five lionesses sleeping, grooming, and relaxing under the trees. We were virtually invisible, and the calm continued again and again. It’s clear that the wildlife here has not had negative interactions with vehicles.” — Guest Sandra W, TripAdvisor Thank you, Sandra, for sharing your story! Last year, for World Safari Day, we turned Hwange National Park into a stage for something extraordinary. Couture met conservation in a celebration of Zimbabwean creativity, culture, and pride. No professional models. Just 17 incredible members of our Somalisa team, stepping confidently into the spotlight and wearing bespoke designs created just for them. It wasn’t just about fashion. It was about identity. Community. And the belief that conservation begins with people. An initiative we’ll always be proud of. 🧡 #WorldSafariDay #Safari #Africa Designer: Victoria Manase Tailor: Lazarus Maudia Photographer: Brandon Tsandukwa Makeup Artist: Gamu Manyika

Acts of Service: Male dung beetles roll massive dung balls to prove themselves worthy to a female. If the female approves, she jumps on board for a ride and to lay her eggs. Quality Time: A baby elephant wanders too far, gets frightened, and runs straight back to its mother. #ValentinesDay #ValentinesDay2026 #animal #Safari

Love in the bush takes many forms… feathers, roars, even dung balls! Here’s how the wild shows affection: Physical Affection: Wild dogs connect through playful, close-contact behaviors that build excitement and bring the pack together before a hunt. Gift Giving: Two male lilac-breasted rollers compete for a female (top), diving and flashing bright feathers while offering gifts to prove they can build a strong nest. #ValentinesDay #ValentinesDay2026 #animal #Safari

"There is a moment on safari when you realize comfort and control are merely illusions, and yet you’ve never felt safer. That paradox defines the wildlife experience at African Bush Camps. You are fully immersed in nature, aware of its power and unpredictability, but guided by people whose calm comes from knowledge passed down and practiced daily." - @SimoneCheri, @TravelNoire #Safari #Africa #animals

“This sighting happened just as we opened Lolebezi for the season. It was only the guides out on a drive, testing new routes for 2025. Along the way, we came across an extraordinary scene: a python halfway through swallowing an impala. We stopped to watch, waiting to see how it would play out.   The next morning, I returned with guests and found that both the python and impala were gone. From the tracks, it looked like hyenas had discovered the python during the night, tried to take the kill, and forced it to release its prey.   We’ve continued to find fresh python tracks in the same area.” - Guide Wallace    📷: @wallacekapomba3 📍: Lolebezi, Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia
