Africa ₿itcoin Conference
@AfroBitcoinOrg
Pan-African Bitcoin Conference. 5th Edition, 2 - 5 December 2026, Blantyre, Malawi 🇲🇼

Blantyre, Malawi is where my Bitcoin journey really began, although I had no idea at the time. Growing up, I lived in a quintessential English village and apart from a few holidays, that was largely the extent of my view of the world. When I arrived in Blantyre in 1994, I was struck by the contrast between officials arriving in flashy cars at government buildings while outside, people were struggling and suffering. It was the first time I saw clearly how governments could enrich themselves while failing to look after their own people. That trip stayed with me and gradually shaped how I think about power, money and the state. More than thirty years later, learning that @AfroBitcoinOrg will take place in Blantyre this year feels remarkable. It brings everything back to where my Bitcoin journey began and to the moment I first saw the problem Bitcoin ultimately addresses... the need to separate money from the state. #ABC2026 #BitcoinMalawi #BitcoinAfrica @gemgemcrypto_io @RoxomTV

It was an honor for our team at the Africa Bitcoin Community ( ABC Hub ) to be in Malawi this week, engaging government institutions and strategic partners on how to responsibly advance the Bitcoin ecosystem through sound, forward looking public policy. At the invitation of the United Nations Development Programme, we are conducting policy advocacy discussions focused on innovation, financial inclusion, youth employment, and digital infrastructure. We had the privilege of meeting with the UNDP Country Representative and Deputy Country Representative of @undpmalawi to exchange perspectives on how Bitcoin and open monetary networks can support Malawi’s development priorities. Bitcoin represents an open and neutral financial infrastructure that can expand access to global markets, reduce transaction costs, strengthen monetary resilience, and create new opportunities for youth employment, innovation, and investment across the continent. We are grateful for the thoughtful engagement and the openness to dialogue. Building a strong Bitcoin ecosystem requires close cooperation between policymakers, development institutions, entrepreneurs, and civil society. ABC remains committed to continuing this engagement and contributing meaningfully to the effort of strengthening Africa’s digital and financial ecosystem.
