Ok, I’ve refrained for too long. Please tell me I’m missing something. ……Alistair Lynch I’m sure is a wonderful bloke, great AFL player but who does he have photos of? I mean how can a guy of his media ability & football nous stay around for as long as he does? I mean who says let’s get Lynchy to be the special comments guru and talk the millions of fans through the vision? I’m sorry. I’d understand for a year or 2 and they say well we gave him a go but please.

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never understood why this was nom’d for 11 and won 3 Academy Awards. It’s not that it’s awful, at all — it’s just that it’s not that level (for me). CHARIOTS OF FIRE (1981) Anyway, it was released 45yrs ago today.

@consequence Billy Joel in Melbourne: I got good news, I got bad news. The bad news is I haven't put out anything new since 1993, so you're actually going to hear the same shit as last time. The good news is I haven't put out anything new since 1993.

Paul McCartney says fans deserve to hear the songs they paid for, which is why he's never fully embraced Bob Dylan's approach to rearranging classics or playing obscure tracks live. "I've been to see a couple of shows of Bob's, and I couldn't tell what song he was doing. Now that's a bit much, because I know his stuff. I get it if he doesn't want to do 'Mr. Tambourine Man.' Maybe he’s fed up with that, but I would like to hear it. And I've paid." consequence.net/2026/05/paul-m…

@Adam_Creighton And the government is a monty to guarantee to cover losses in their desperation to throw good money after bad.

Angus Taylor should promise to rescind contracts signed under the government's Capacity Investment Scheme in his budget reply should Coalition win govt. It's a Mad Hatter policy to more than double existing solar and wind capacity in four years that will cost taxpayers billions. The scheme would be destroyed.

A lot of talk again about VAR and referee decisions. I wonder what VAR would make of this scandalous decision, from the vital World Cup qualifier in 1977 between Scotland and Wales. Scotland’s Joe Jordan blatantly punches the ball, yet the referee gives Scotland a penalty, and even commentator Archie Macpherson is bought! #VAR

With 1 game to go in the SPL, Hearts are 1 point ahead of Celtic. Hearts have a better goal diff, so a Celtic loss would have given the title to Hearts. Naturally Celtic won with a 99th min goal. And guess who Hearts play in the last game? I think we know how this will end up.

@renew_economy I really appreciate his principled nuclear disinformation campaign. @SmartEnergyCncl said nuclear would be 3.7% of the grid. Their calculation: 11GW of nuclear capacity ÷ 300GW renewable capacity (AEMO ISP) They deliberately conflated capacity and output to the grid!

Potentially unpopular opinion: Split Enz were significantly better than Crowded House. Edgy and ahead of their time. Can’t wait to see The Enz tonight.

@EnergyWrapAU They've been working on a pivot for ages, but they can't work out how to make it electorally palatable. Dunno why. If the budget proved anything they can always flat out lie.

I want to know what the government’s energy pivot will be, because it has to happen soon. Why? If the farmers stop the transmission lines, we can’t build the wind farms. If we can’t build the wind farms, we can’t turn off the coal. If we can’t turn off the coal, we can’t meet the targets. If we can’t meet the targets, what do the politicians do?

I often sense a contempt for AFL fans among a big section of football media now. Why? Love of the game, for one. I'd argue far more people I came into footy journalism with were genuine fans who grew up going to games each week & passionately following a team. Now? Not so much.

What a ridiculous take... "There are Blues supporters who have no other ideas than to sack the coach. You have another head on a stick today. Congratulations. Are you happy?"

✍️ The Carlton coaching curse In the last 25 years, Carlton have had 7 full-time senior coaches. Their coaches and records ⬇️ 2001-2002- Wayne Brittain- 17-27-38.64% Salary cap scandal 2003-2007- Denis Pagan- 25-2-77- 25% 2007-2012- Brett Ratten- 59-1-56- 51.29% (1-3 in finals) 2013-2015- Mick Malthouse- 19-1-32-37.5% (1-1 in finals) 2016-2019- Brendan Bolton- 16-61-20.78% 2019-2021- David Teague- 21-29-42% 2022-2026- Michael Voss- 49-1-53- 47.5% (2-2 in finals) Best of luck to their next coach! Whoever it is, 🤞 for Blues fans they can end the curse and bring the club their first 🏆 in over 30 years!
