As AgQuip closes for the 47th time, thanks to everybody who attended, including the exhibitors who filled the site yet again in a dry year. Despite the drought, exhibitors reported a lot of hope amongst buyers who purchased items of all sizes over the 3 days. Back again in 2020!

Drought conditions have increased the demand for cattle handling equipment at AgQuip, giving retailers a boost at an unexpected time. Managing Director of Warwick Cattle Crushes, Gary Stark, says people need to handle their cattle a lot more in dry times for agistment and sale.

As animal protection rises as a public issue, one of Australia’s leaders in livestock handling equipment has urged a co-operative approach to safety issues for humans and animals. Speaking at AgQuip, Clipex Chairman, Ashley Olsson, says people need to work together to solve this.

Despite the drought conditions, exhibitors across a wide range of products are experiencing better than expected sales at AgQuip. M&M Stockyards from Manilla had a lot of inquiry from Southern NSW and today sold cattle yards and loading ramps to the Binnaway and Gulgong districts

Preventing farm invaders trespassing on farms will reduce biosecurity risk, according to the NSW Farmers Association President, James Jackson. Speaking from AgQuip, he says while he is not against the right to demonstrate, invading a farm can increase risk to animals and crops.

Gunnedah machinery dealers, NFS Ag, have taken deposits at AgQuip on two crop spray units worth $280,000 each. The machines can detect active chlorophyll in a plant to spot spray that weed. Territory manager, Croplands Weedit sprayers, Dave Farmer, says this was above expectation

A new feature at AgQuip this year is the Rural Relief Precinct, where a range of organisations will offer support and some free items for farmers suffering under the current drought conditions. Organisers of the event have now decided to make the Precinct a permanent feature.

AgQuip is famous for its great steak sandwiches, with cattle breed societies competing to produce the best. Doughtmaster stud breeders society president, Todd Heyman, from Grafton, says they’ll sell 1000 steaks and sausages every day at AgQuip, equalling about 50 head of cattle.

Gates are open for day three at Commonwealth Bank AgQuip and the public again pour onto the exhibition site. The roads are watered down, leaving a few puddles - lets hope for a lot more puddles with rain predicted to start here on Friday afternoon and across the weekend!
