Old crop corn futures are trading lower after the USDA held ending stocks steady at 2.127 billion bushels, making no changes to domestic supply or demand estimates this month. Meanwhile, old crop soybeans are fractionally higher similar to what they were ahead of the report, as the government also held their carryout unchanged at 350 million bushels, despite a slight increase in imports being completely offset by a bump in domestic crush demand.
Market attention is now pivoting away from these balance sheet adjustments and toward geopolitical volatility—specifically the fragile U.S. Iran ceasefire, the upcoming China trade summit, and the start of the U.S. planting season.
As of 11:10 AM CST:
Old Crop Corn: -$0.03 ¾ at $4.43 ½
New Crop Corn: -$0.03 at $4.73
Old Crop Beans: $0.02 ¾ at $11.65 ¼
New Crop Beans: $0.01 at $11.53 ¼
