🇺🇸🇮🇷🇨🇳 Trump flew to Beijing needing China to help end the Iran war. What he got back is complicated. On paper both sides agreed that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and free of tolls. Xi publicly opposed any effort to charge ships for passage. Trump told Fox News that Xi would like to see a deal made with Iran and has offered to help. Treasury Secretary Bessent said China will work "behind the scenes" to pressure Tehran and that reopening the Strait is "very much in their interest." So far so good. But here is where it gets messy. The day Trump landed in Beijing a Chinese supertanker quietly sailed through the Strait without paying Iran's toll, widely seen as a goodwill gesture from Tehran timed to the summit. Then reports emerged that Iran has been letting some Chinese ships through under special arrangements, with around 30 vessels transiting since Wednesday evening. So Chinese ships are moving. Other ships are not. Xi also rejected the tolls publicly while Iran continues collecting them from everyone else. Beijing publicly opposes tolls but its ships are getting through anyway. That is a contradiction nobody in Beijing is in a hurry to explain. Bessent himself acknowledged the deeper problem. Several layers of Iranian leadership have been killed since the war started on February 28 and it is genuinely difficult to communicate with anyone who can speak for Tehran or deliver on any agreement. "The real problem here is we didn't change the regime, but the regime changed," he said. So Trump came to Beijing wanting China to deliver Iran. China signaled it would try. Iran let a few Chinese ships through as a gesture. And the Strait is still effectively closed for the rest of the world. Everyone got something. Nobody got everything. One of the most terrifying images in history: a transformation from life to death. Gaza in 2023 and 2026!

🇦🇪🇮🇷 THE UAE WAS FIGHTING A SECRET WAR INSIDE IRAN While Trump was announcing the ceasefire on April 8th, UAE Mirage jets were hitting Iran's Lavan Island oil refinery. The facility caught fire. Stayed offline for months. Iran responded with missiles and drones. The UAE intercepted them, said nothing about what it had done to provoke the response, and pointed silently to its right of self-defense. Before that: Iran hit the UAE's Borouge petrochemical complex. Iran hit Dubai International Airport. A Shahed drone struck the Fairmont on Palm Jumeirah. An Iranian drone hit the US consulate in Dubai. Iran fired 174 ballistic missiles, 689 drones, and 8 cruise missiles at UAE soil between March 1 and the ceasefire. The UAE absorbed all of it publicly... and struck back in secret.
