I'm quite excited to be sequencing the genome of this neat little frog thanks to @AusARGenomics. Although Australia's Common Eastern Froglet is not as flashy as some frogs in appearance, they make up for it in their remarkable ability to tolerate chytrid infection [1|2]

It's a newt party! 16 gorgeous little smooth #newts turned up when we were re-lining my parents' tiny pond (barely a metre across) on the edge of North London. The UK has three species of newts, and they're all awesome. #UKwildlife #amphibians #herping

Today's Critically Endangered Species of the Day is Telmatobius philippii. Native to the El Loa Province of Chile, this species was originally known from two seperate populations, but one has vanished entirely, with the remaining heavily depleted. Their major threat is dams.

Charlcombe Lane re-opens today after being closed (apart from access) for 6 weeks as volunteers helped amphibians cross the road on their way to the lake. As the weather is forecast to be a little damp this week can drivers please keep an eye out for any stragglers 🐸💚
