Hi. I’m Dalton and I’ve been dealing with some pretty significant depression over the past couple of months, hence my relative absence from this platform and others. I don’t say this to draw pity. My life is wonderful, which is why this particular episode has been so damn frustrating. But I’ve been in a major rut. I’ve been unpleasant to be around for my loved ones, and that’s only made my headspace worse. This isn’t the first time. It probably won’t be the last. But each time I have been to this place, I had something to keep my head above the water. Each time it’s been something different. The first time was rekindling my relationship with my now wife while I was in Afghanistan. The second time was when I was at Fort Hood and building and showing my Roush. This time it was bodybuilding. I need a routine. I need structure. Between moving twice, side projects, no traditional full-time job and getting pulled in a thousand directions I’ve felt like a chicken running around headless. Getting settled into Ocean City, our new home, will help. Being back in a routine will help. Never judge a book by its cover. Be kind to those around you, because you never know what kind of hell they’re going through, even if they’re showing you their highlights on social media. I hope if you’re reading this and are going through something yourself you consider talking to someone. My Discord server has a mental health channel where you can vent and get support!
