We have just submitted a planning application for 14 new homes and Common House for Halton Senior CoHousing group, but this one is a little different! We call these homes Tam, and they can move! But these are definitely not caravans! Instead they are built to meet and exceed Building Regulations like any other homes. Triple glazed and super-insulated, airtight and made of renewable materials, they are truly low-carbon. So, we can lay them out using new and innovative integration with landscape and SUDs, creating a more coherent whole! This is why we’re called Agile Homes! We have worked closely with planners the local authority, landscape designers and engineers. A community-led development that sets a new and innovative standard for senior living. Schumacher said ‘Small is Beautiful - economics as if people mattered’ At Agile we agree but with a subtle difference! Instead we say: Small is Beautiful - housing as if people and nature mattered! And it turns out others agree! The Stonebridge Park project for Places for People won a Bristol Civic Design Award this week! Seven homes for formerly homeless people with complex needs, provide a safe, civil and low carbon home where they can rebuild their lives, set overlooking a valley that connects them to nature. Well done Lucy Wood, Pat Steward , James Brown, Sarah Jones-Morris and the wider team at Agile Homes. The award comes with a blue plaque too! 😎

It’s was great to be at the official opening of the new Sports Pavilion at Wolverley Church of England Secondary School! In time honoured fashion a ribbon was cut and speeches given! Well done Raise Partnership, Leonard Design and the Agile Homes team! Thank you also to the @FootballFoundtn and @worcscc County Council for funding. This is not just any sports pavilion! It’s a built on ground screws, strawbale insulated, pre-fabricated, modern methods of construction, triple glazed, super insulated, low carbon affordable sports pavilion! This will be the first of many we hope!

Perhaps more importantly, this investment comes with a £25 m fund to pay for the building of new homes! The first projects will start on site in early 2026, and we will be building high-quality, low-carbon homes for people in profound need! Holding to our vision and values throughout! Zoom Boom housing! What’s that? 👇

Our last post on Agile Homes’ Tam move from Bristol to near Gloucester got a lot of positive reaction! Thank you! Here’s a longer version that explains more on why Tam can meet housing need fast and flexibly. Designed as permanent homes, with a 60 design life, like any conventional home, Tam Tam is also moveable! We flat pack Tam for installation and design them to be lifted out, keeping costs affordable. They are triple glazed, super insulated and made using renewable, biogenic materials, minimising energy use, and carbon footprint. We call this approach Build With Carbon. Nature has done the carbon capture, we do the carbon storage! They are designed to meet Nationally Described Space Standards, Future Homes 2025 energy use and don’t compromise on build quality. Whether as permanent, meanwhile or for emergency housing, Tam is worth taking a look at. Designed initially to demonstrate that land is free and hidden in plain sight, and be unlocked quickly and easily to help fix the housing crisis, this Tam is now a home for a young man in need of specialised support.
