My favorite memories growing up are riding in the combine with mom, semi with dad, & grain cart with my brothers. I learned so much out in the field & gained my love of agriculture. I am so thankful @Wayde_Looker and I now get to build these memories with our boys

Fun fact: Black and yellow garden spiders are beneficial predators that feed on aphids, mosquitoes, and flies. Another fun fact: I still hate them and think they are the worst part of walking bean fields in the fall

Evaluating relative maturity at a @BASFAgProducts trial in Michigan. Each one tenth of a point difference is equal to a one day difference in maturity. Planting the fullest maturing variety that will be physiologically mature before the first killing frost can help maximize yield

Caught red handed! Bean leaf beetle pressure is high this year in Ohio. This time of year they feed on the pods and scar them. One bean leaf beetle can eat 20% of a pod in one day

Phytophthora root rot can occur anytime in the growing season. The best tool to combat late season phytophthora is variety selection. Late season severity is directly related to the level of resistance in the plant

SDS is becoming much more prevalent with the recent rains. SDS infection occurs early season by a fungus that invades the roots and lower stems, and then later in the season the toxins are taken up into the leaves resulting in foliar symptoms

The difference variety selection can have on Sudden Death Syndrome pressure is astounding! Spent the morning taking notes on untreated varieties in an SDS trial in Michigan so that we can help farmers select the best #Credenz variety for their acre @BASFAgProducts

As my almost 3 year old would say, “Holy moly cow!”. I am always amazed at a soybean plant’s ability to branch out when given the space. This is why we are seeing lower planting populations become more common

You may want to consider adding an insecticide to the tank if you’re making an application of fungicide to soybeans and see these culprits. At ~15% defoliation during the bloom to pod fill growth stages we begin to see significant yield loss in soybeans

Dry conditions have made manganese deficiency more common this year. In dry soil Mn is readily oxidized and present in the soil as Mn4+ rather than the plant available form of Mn2+
