I warmly welcome the United Kingdom’s decision to suspend tariffs on tuna imports effective 20th May 2026. This important development will support British consumers while delivering meaningful benefits to the Maldives’ fisheries sector, strengthening fishermen’s incomes, supporting island livelihoods, and expanding opportunities for sustainably caught Maldivian tuna in the UK market. The Maldives is globally recognised for its world-leading pole-and-line tuna industry and its commitment to responsible and sustainable fishing practices. This milestone reflects the close partnership between the Maldives and the UK and the importance both countries place on sustainable trade and economic resilience. I thank the UK Government and all partners who contributed to this positive step forward for our fishermen and our economy. 🇲🇻🇬🇧

Congratulations to all the graduates of the second batch of National Service programme! (A total of 343 graduates from 112 islands - 113 under 18years, 230 over years of age. Out of the 343, 280 are males, 63 are females).

މިއަދު މިއުޅެނީ ނޫސްވެރިކަމުގެ މިނިވަންކަމާއި ޚިޔާލު ފާޅުކުރުމުގެ މިނިވަންކަން ހަނިވެގެންނެއް ނޫން. ނިގުޅައިގަނެގެން އަތުލައިގަނެގެނެއްނޫން. މިއަދު މިއުޅެނީ މި ޙައްޤުތައް އޭގެ އެއްވެސް ޙައްދެއް އިމެއްނެތި ތަންމިނަށް ހުޅުވާލުމުން، އެ މިނިވަންކަމުގެ ނާޖާއިޒް ފައިދާ ނަގައިގެން ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާއަށް ގަޛްފު ކޮށްގެން. . ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާއާއި ސުވާލުކުރާ ހުރިހާ ނޫސްވެރިން ފުލުހަކަށް ކޯޓަކަށް ނުގެންދޭ. ޖަލަކަށްވެސް ނުލާ. އަދި ބޭނުން ސުވާލެއް ކުރުމުގެ ފުރުސަތުވެސް ލިބޭ. އެކަމަކު ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ދުސްތޫރީ ކޯޓަކުން ގެގް އޯޑަރެއް ނެރުއްވާފައި އޮތުމުން އެއަށް ޢަމަލު ނުކުރައްވާ ހިތު ހުރިގޮތަކަށް އެ އަމުރާ ޚިލާފުވާން ފުރުޞަތު ދިނުމުގެ އިޚްތިޔާރު ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާއަކަށްވެސް ލިބިވަޑައެއްނުގަންނަވާ. މިޤައުމުގައި ސިޔާސީ މީހުންގެ އަބުރަށް އަރައިގަތުމާ މީހުންގެ ބޮލުގައި ދޮގު އިލްޒާމް އަޅުވައިގެން އެކަމުން ސިޔާސީ ނަފާ ހޯދުމަށްޓަކައި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީން ލިބިދީފައިވާ މިނިވަންކަން ނާޖާއިޒު ގޮތުގައި ބޭނުން ކުރުންދަނީ ރޯވަމުންދާ އަލިފާން ގަނޑެއްފަދައިން ފެތުރެމުން. ރާއްޖޭގައި ހެދިފައިވާ ޤާނޫނުތައް ތަންފީޒު ކުރެވޭނެ. އަދި ޤާނޫނުތަކާ ޚިލާފުވުމުން ފިޔަވަޅުވެސް އެޅޭނެ. ޤާނޫނު ތަންފީޒު ކުރުމަކީ ހުރިހާ ރައްޔިތުންގެ ޙައްޤުތައް ރައްކާތެރި ކުރުމަށްް އެޅޭ މުހިއްމު ފިޔަވަޅެއް. ޒާތީނުވެ، ދޮގު ނަހަދާ، އަބުރާ ނުބެހިވެސް ސަރުކާރަށް ފާޑުކިޔާ ޒިއްމާދާރު ކުރެވޭނެ.

ތިމާމެންނަކީ ނޫސްވެރިންކަމަށް ބުނެ ނޫސްވެރިކަމުގެ ފާހުގެ ނިވަލުގައި ދައުލަތުގެ އެންމެ މަތީ އެއް އިދާރާގެ ތެރެއަށްވަންނަން ފުރުސަތު ހޯދައިގެން ސިޔާސީ އެކްޓިވިސްޓުން އުޅޭ ގޮތަށް އުޅޭ ބަޔަކު މިއަދު ޝަރުއީ ކޯޓުތަކުގެ އަމުރަށް ގޮން ޖަހައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ އަބުރުފުޅަށް އަރައިގަނެ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ އޮފީހުގެ ހުރުމަތް ކެނޑުމަކީ ޑީމޮކްރެސީއެއް ނޫން. އަދި މިއީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤާނޫނު އަސާސީންނާއި އިސްލާމީ ޝަރީއާއިންވެސް އެއްވެސް ބަޔަކަށް ލިބިދީފައިވާ ހައްގުތަކެއް ނޫން. މި ގައުމުގެ ވީދިފައިވާ އިޖުތިމާއީ ފޭރާން އިއާދަކުރުމަށް މިފަދަ މީހުންނާ ދެކޮޅަށް ދައުވާ ކުރެވި ހައްގު އަދަބު ދެވެން ޖެހޭ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ދުވަހުގެ ތަހުނިޔާއާއި ހެޔޮއެދުންތައް ލޮބުވެތި ދިވެހި ކުޑަކުދިންނަށާއި ޢާއިލާތަކަށް ނުހަނު ލޯތްބާައެކު އަރިސްކުރަން. ހެދިބޮޑުވަމުން އަންނަ ވަރަކަށް، އުމުރާގުޅޭ ތަޢުލީމާއި ތަރުބިއްޔަތު ކުޑަކުދިންނަށް ދިނުމަކީ ސަރުކާރާއި ރައްޔިތުން ގުޅިގެން އަދާކުރަން ޖެހޭ ޤައުމީ ޒިންމާއެއް. ކުޑަކުދިންނަށް ހަގީގީ ލޯބިދިނުމަކީ، އެކުދިންނަށް ދީނާއި ދުނިޔެ އުނގަންނައިދިނުން. ޒިންމާދާރު ބަޔެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި މާދަމާ އުޅެވޭނެ ޤާބިލްކަން ހޯދައިދިނުން. އެއްވެސް ކުޑަކުއްޖެއްގެ މަޢުޞޫމް ދިރިއުޅުމަށް ބުރޫއަރާނެ ބަހަކަށް އަދި ޢަމަލަކަށްވެސް ޖާގަ ނުދިނުން.

We must create an environment that supports more responsible journalism that adheres to the core principles of the profession, including seeking the truth, ensuring accuracy in disseminating information, and upholding fairness and impartiality.
