The Women’s Forum held on the sidelines of the first Regional Africa OACPS–EU Parliamentary Assembly took place in the Ezulwini Valley under the theme: “Empowering women in agricultural value chains as a driver of economic development”, within the FAO (@FAO) framework of the International Year of the Woman Farmer (@iywfoundation) 2026. The discussions brought together several high-level personalities, including Senator Linda Nxumalo and Hon. Tenele Magagula from the Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Hon. Monica Mutsvangwanister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development of the Zimbabwe and Lauren Phillips, Director, Partnerships and UN Collaboration - Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). On the sidelines of his participation in the first Regional Africa OACPS–EU Parliamentary Assembly in the Kingdom of Eswatini 🇸🇿, H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki (@Mbatraki), Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, visited the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RES) to assess the company’s technical and production capacities. During the visit, RES officials, including Managing Director Mr. Nick Jackson and General Manager of Factories Mr. Jimson Tfwala, presented the company’s operations, industrial infrastructure and strategic role in the regional sugar industry. The sessions of the first Regional Africa OACPS–EU Parliamentary Assembly continued today in the Ezulwini Valley with the main debate focused on the challenges and opportunities related to youth mobility and education. The discussions featured contributions from Ms. Monica Zanette of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (@ICMPD), Mr. Yitna Getachew of the International Organization for Migration, as well as representatives of the African Union Development Agency (@NEPAD_Agency), including a video message from Her Excellency Mrs Nardos Bekele-Thomas and in session representation by Dr. Ildephonse Musafari. On the sidelines of the OACPS–EU Joint Parliamentary Assemblies held in the Kingdom of Eswatini 🇸🇿 @EswatiniGovern1 , the Youth Forum brought together young leaders, parliamentarians and partners around a central theme linked to education, youth mobility and skills development within the Africa–Europe partnership. Discussions highlighted the importance of investing in a better educated, more connected and empowered youth capable of driving economic transformation, innovation and stronger cooperation between both regions. This morning, the opening ceremony of the first Regional Africa OACPS–EU Parliamentary Assembly took place in the Ezulwini Valley, Kingdom of Eswatini, in the presence of H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki (@MBatraki) , Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, the two Co-Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly, as well as His Royal Highness Prince Lindani representing His Majesty King Mswati III.
