
The Women’s Forum held on the sidelines of the first Regional Africa OACPS–EU Parliamentary Assembly took place in the Ezulwini Valley under the theme: “Empowering women in agricultural value chains as a driver of economic development”, within the FAO (@FAO) framework of the International Year of the Woman Farmer (@iywfoundation) 2026.
The discussions brought together several high-level personalities, including Senator Linda Nxumalo and Hon. Tenele Magagula from the Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Hon. Monica Mutsvangwanister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development of the Zimbabwe and Lauren Phillips, Director, Partnerships and UN Collaboration - Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The Forum highlighted the critical role of women in agricultural value chains, food security, rural entrepreneurship and Africa’s economic transformation, while calling for greater access to finance, technology, training and markets for women farmers and entrepreneurs.
