The project aimed to implement the entire process—issuance, distribution, payment, and settlement—of a "policy-based local currency" embedded with policy conditions such as merchant restrictions and expiration dates, and to verify its operational feasibility in a real financial environment. The K-STAR Alliance includes AhnLab Blockchain Company (ABC), along with OpenAsset (@open_asset_inc), Kaia (@KaiaChain), and Lambda256 (@Lambda256), with each company contributing its expertise across issuance, wallet, infrastructure, and orchestration to verify interoperability. Notably, load testing based on BNK Busan Bank's actual payment operation data recorded a 100% transaction success rate with sub-1-second processing, demonstrating the system's stability. Through this PoC, the alliance has laid the groundwork to expand beyond the digital transformation of local currencies into next-generation financial infrastructure, including stablecoins, digital assets, and cross-border payment and settlement.
