Israel is going above and beyond to protect the Christian population of Lebanon. I just spoke with senior IDF official, MG Hidai Zilberman, who’s an expert on the issue and confirmed Israel’s tireless work to ensure the safety of the Christian population. However, Hezbollah has done the COMPLETE opposite. They’re putting Christians and Lebanese civilians directly in the line of fire. They’re attacking Israel from WITHIN Christian population centers and storing their terror assets IN Christian schools. Israeli officials are in constant communication with the leaders of Christian communities in south Lebanon and are delivering aid to Christian villages to help prevent their dependence on Hezbollah terrorists. So, anyone who tells you anything other than the truth, doesn’t want Christians to be safe.

Hezbollah attacked and killed Israelis yesterday because Iran wanted Hezbollah to attack and kill Israelis.

Israel, by population, is about one-thirty-fourth the size of the United States. Hezbollah just killed 4 Israeli soldiers. Adjusted for population, that’s the equivalent of 136 American soldiers killed. How would WE react?

Four IDF soldiers, including Battalion 52 Cmdr. Lt. Col. Dor Ben Shamchon, were killed in a Hezbollah drone strike in southern Lebanon, violating the ceasefire. The IDF launched extensive retaliatory strikes, leading Iran to cancel their Switzerland trip in protest.

Those aren’t our positions and there is no such thing as unconditional aid to Israel. Van Hollen doesn’t get support from our members because our members don’t support Senators who lie about them and obsessively focus on undermining a partnership that benefits America.

The repeated Hezbollah attacks against the IDF, including the strike last night that left a dozen wounded and killed four Israeli soldiers and officers, are not skirmishes. They are part of a deliberate strategy by the Islamic Republic of Iran to use its proxy, Hezbollah, to attack Israel while testing the limits of the agreement it signed with the United States. It would be very easy for the IRGC to order Hezbollah to stand down, at least for these days, or simply to abide by the terms of the ceasefire signed in 2024. They are choosing not to do that. Instead, they are directing Hezbollah to escalate. When Israel responds they go and threaten the U.S. that negotiations will collapse, blaming Israel. Tehran wants to humiliate the United States and make sure it can revive its proxy network, and to establish an equation in which Iran enjoys sanctions relief, petrodollars, and reintegration into the global economy while continuing, through its proxies, to kill Israelis, Arabs and probably Americans, just as it has done for decades. None of this is accidental. It is deliberate. The West does not fully understands that this is the real test; or worse- it does, and does not care. Tehran is trying to determine whether it can enjoy the benefits of normalization while continuing its campaign of terror.

Instead of disarming and withdrawing from southern Lebanon, Hezbollah continues to attack Israel, while exploiting Lebanese territory as a launching pad for terrorism. Every country must protect its citizens.

Hezbollah never stopped violating the ceasefire and attacking Israeli civilians. Hezbollah attacks Israelis with drones, rockets, anti-tank missiles. Families are forced into shelters. Communities live under constant threat. Children grow up to the sound of sirens. No country would allow this to continue.

Today, Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned Hizballah-aligned Lebanese officials, as well as members and interlocutors of a Hizballah-associated business network. The Lebanese officials designated today have used their influence to obstruct Lebanon’s peace process and delay the disarmament of Hizballah.

Cements the regime’s standing: The MOU requires the U.S. not to interfere in the internal affairs of Iran. This provision suggests the U.S. will end efforts to promote democracy and human rights in Iran. It would require an end to internet freedom and broadcasting efforts. The MOU would leave the U.S. with no response to the brutal regime’s murder earlier this year of tens of thousands of Iranian protestors.

Bypasses Congress: Article 14 of the agreement requires a final agreement be adopted through a binding UNSC resolution, with no mention of Congress’ constitutional role in approving international agreements.

For 47 years, the Iranian regime has been at war against America and its own people. At President Trump’s strong direction, America, working together with Israel, has decimated Iran’s leadership, nuclear program, and military assets, and created the opportunity for a diplomatic agreement. The initial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that has been reached with Iran raises significant questions. The MOU provides for sanctions relief to Iran in exchange for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and vague Iranian commitments on its nuclear program. As negotiations commence on a final nuclear agreement, Congress must receive complete information on the deal and play a critical role in ensuring a final deal meets President Trump’s stated objectives for the war: “Obliterate Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal and production capability, annihilate its navy, sever its support for terrorist proxies, and ensure the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism never acquires a nuclear weapon.” A final deal must permanently and verifiably end the regime’s nuclear program—including the removal of all enriched uranium from Iran and the dismantlement of all enrichment sites. The final deal should also address Iran’s illicit ballistic missile and drone program and end the regime’s financing of terror groups that wreak havoc around the world. 📄 aipac.org/memos/prevent-…
