@TyDaubert @PhilliesNation Thompson's decisions make no sense, since when did marsh become a clutch hitter?

Justin Crawford hit .376 against LHP in Triple-A last year. Brandon Marsh hit .197 against LHP in the bigs last year.
So why is Marsh in CF over Crawford against a lefty tonight? Rob Thomson explained his reasoning:

@AfternoonsWIP @SportsRadioWIP No need to panic, This team is not as good as last year and they are not going anywhere!

@deeev___ @AdamSchefter Good move, Sydney is a hard hitter but to often is out of position and can't cover!

@EliotShorrParks @SportsRadioWIP Looking like Mckee gets traded at some point or the Eagles package him to move up in the draft possibly.

The Eagles have traded for QB Andy Dalton, exchanging seventh-round picks with the Panthers to acquire the veteran QB (per ESPN)
Some initial thoughts on the trade:
** My first reaction? Very surprised the Eagles did this. Dalton will be 39 in October and in his last two seasons he has 8 TD, 7 INT and a 1-5 record as a starter. Yes, that is with the Panthers — but he hasn’t had a winning record as a QB since 2015. Not great.
** This seems like a precursor to Tanner McKee being traded, although it’s possible the Eagles just want a veteran with them this offseason just incase McKee is traded at one point. They could always make Dalton the emergency QB all season if needed (or honestly just cut him)
** If they don’t trade McKee this might mean no rookie in the draft (unless they are open to cutting Dalton)
** If it was an option I’d have rather re-signed Sam Howell then traded for Dalton
** Maybe they view Dalton as a good veteran to help teach some of the new offense to Hurts?
** Dalton throws a lot of interceptions. He has 16 interceptions in his last 27 games (21 starts). For a team that really values taking care of the ball it’s surprising they would have interest in a turnover-prone QB.
** Dalton has a base salary of $3.6 million in 2026. It’s possible the Eagles re-do the deal, but even if they don’t, that is not a lot of money for a backup quarterback.

@SportsRadioWIP No way is he worth 30 million a year, Carolina really overpaid!

Ike isn’t losing sleep over Jaelan Phillips signing a 4-year, $120M deal with the Panthers.
“This may be one where we’re thankful Carolina paid him. I like the idea of Jaelan Phillips, but with his injury history you’re really betting on the physical traits and potential — and that hasn’t translated to staying on the field for a full season.”

Darius Cooper will get the first shot at WR3 in Eagles camp 👀

Bryce says his impression when he first met with the Phillies was they’ll keep things in house and he is expected to do the same.
That contract extension request less than 50% of the way through Harper’s deal, it’s interesting how that leaked to the public.

YIKES: Bryce Harper is still not happy about Phillies president Dave Dombrowski saying publicly that he did not have an elite season. 😳 "It was kind of wild the whole situation of that happening...I don't need to be motivated to be great in my career...For Dave to come out and say those things, it's kind of wild to me still."
