@Pivot2Centre There shouldn't be "maids" in a good economy anyway. If someone can't pay the required wages, they should not hire.

I can’t stress this enough 1. Buy a dishwasher. Almost 80% of the utensils can be managed by the dishwasher. Only cooker, and few items require hand wash 2. Buy a Romba. The one with mopping capabilities 3. Buy a dryer along with washer You don’t need a maid. Once you don’t need a maid, your life will be much more flexible- you day won’t revolve around her timings. You can literally automate 70% of the work she does and you can get several hours back. Just hire someone from Urban company to do deep cleaning once a week or 2 weeks.

This is less about “rich vs poor” and more about what Indian urban society treats as reasonable. Rs. 9,000 for a Hyrox event sounds fine to many because it fits into the upper middle class mental bucket of lifestyle, fitness, experience. Rs. 20,000 for blue collar worker sounds excessive to the same people because manual labour is still expected to remain cheap. That gap in instinct tells you a lot about class inequality in India.
Non-anxiety Magnet (parody)@goesonrants

If you want to truly understand the utterly bizarre class inequality in India, we're currently seeing 2 big discourses: 1. Paying ₹9000 for a Hyrox race is not insane & fair price 2. Domestic labours demanding wage hike to ₹20000/month is greedy & unfair to the employer class

Anti-business mindset. The only real advantage of having a factory in India is that it has cheaper labour. You're actively pushing for those factory owners to speed up automation. Those protestors are going to be left with not even those ₹9k jobs this way.
🦁@AndColorPockeT

Factories pay really low wages , 8000 to 12000 max for 10-12 hours shift and also deduct salaries if labour takes leave on Sunday ( there are no weekend off). Violence is not the solution however the govt should really grill blood sucking dhandhos…

For all the morons calling me a selfish capitalist. I no longer run any factory. But I can guarantee you that if I restart, all my workforce will leave everything and rejoin me. That is how much we took care of them. They still call me regularly and ask me, "Factory kab chalu kar rahe ho saahab aap?" The problem with socialists is that they can never create anything. They have only broken things. Capitalists build things, and when you build things, the amount of effort required is far, far more.

People are forgetting we are the 3rd world. Khane ke lale pad jayenge agar wapas communism me jaoge toh. And this time there would be no reversals. Entire civilisation would be doomed. World is so so far ahead. Asking for fair demands is their right but you can’t hold ransom

If businesses become unprofitable, the owners will close it down, simple as that.. They take the risks and the profits, and that is how it will always work. If you don't like the salary, don't work there.

Wages are not decided by factory owners. Wages are decided by negotiating a balance between how much a factory owner is willing to pay and how much a worker would finally settle for. What you call greed is what runs every enterprise. If it isn't profit, why would the owner take all that trouble ? By the way what do you work for? Two meals a day and four pair of clothes in a year? Wouldn't it be greed taking more than what ensures your survival !
Moneyram@ekdumkangal

@VikasSaraswat Wages will be decided by greedy Factory Owners. Right? Govt have no role there. Govt is there only to inaugurate new Malls. Right?

Maids in Delhi NCR get paid really well. This I know from personal experience. I really don’t understand who is instigating this demographic. Whoever it is, is doing them a huge disservice. Soon housekeeping will be taken over by corporate houses, it already is, for fraction of headache and quarter of charges. Professionalism you get is an added bonus. Soon no one will hire maids like they were hired in the past and no prizes for guessing who will lose out.

The protestors don't understand that companies will close and relocate and new companies won't come to Noida making them jobless. Instead they should have had a dharna in front of office to ensure everyone's payment problems are solved. This is suicidal, in today's economy. This is why most factories go to Gujrat, because for 10 paise diff people pick orders & work hard, they try looking at profit by volumes.

The Noida protests look seeded. Friends who have factories say, their staff was working on the shop floor, while a lot of outsiders started stone pelting. The staff stayed inside. Now the maids have risen up, pelting stones at the societies they are working at. Mind you the maids in Delhi NCR earn decently. Much better than the factory workers. The govt should identify the root cause.
