@OpeBee I think it is a sign of good things to come in the 2nd term. Baba is back to what we used to know him, appointing competent leaders. After election, he should sack many of his ministers immediately and replace them with new ones which will continue in his 2nd term

Yesterday, Thursday 23rd May, after meeting with His Excellency the Governor Bala of Bauchi State, I proceeded to Madarasatu Intisharu Islam Qismu in Bauchi, where I had visited in the past and supported them with the sum of 5million naira to provide chairs and other items for the school. On visiting yesterday, and seeing improvements that have been achieved and how enthusiastic the children are, I was glad and gave them another sum of 5million to support the scholarship of indigent students. We must invest in the lives of these children for our own future and for the progress of the country. A new Nigeria is POssible.-PO

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) allotted a total of N894.17 billion at its Treasury Bills Primary Market Auction held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, amid strong investor demand and stable stop rates across all maturities. The auction results seen by Nairametrics on Wednesday show that total subscriptions surged to N2.36 trillion, significantly exceeding the N750 billion offered across the 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day tenors.

@sowore @MTNNG No sir, please no one should do that. You can write to them as Sowore. We all know the network is also not perfect in other countries too. In fact, it's the same in some western countries. The only thing they could do is to warn of data depletions at intervals

Why @MTNNG must face total occupation by Nigerians! They dominate Nigeria’s telecom space but operate with reckless disregard for their customers. Data vanishes without explanation, calls fail repeatedly, and accountability is nonexistent. MTN is totally and irreversibly irresponsible. #OCCUPYMTN #aacourparty

I will never support the LAWFARE being waged against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. @elrufai Let the courts uphold the rule of law by granting him bail and ensuring he receives a fair trial. Bail is a constitutional right not a tool for punishment or intimidation. Using bail as a means of caging Nigerians is unjust, unlawful, and unacceptable. It is a practice we must all reject, regardless of who is involved.

@OpeBee I wonder what they are trying to achieve. The price of cement is too high. If the local industries cannot reduce their prices to make it competitive with imports, it should be left to them. We have a monopoly that's not being regulated.

FG expands import ban to cement, fertiliser, soaps, others The Federal Government has revised its list of restricted imports, adding cement, fertiliser, soaps and several other products, increasing the total number of affected categories to 17. This update was contained in a circular from the Federal Ministry of Finance, endorsed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, following presidential approval of the 2026 fiscal policy framework. Titled “Approval for the Implementation of the 2026 Fiscal Policy Measures and Tariff Amendments,” the circular indicated that the new policy took effect on April 1, 2026, in line with the ECOWAS Common External Tariff. According to the document, “This is to confirm that His Excellency, Mr President, has approved the implementatiAon of the 2026 Fiscal Policy Measures made up of Supplementary Protection Measures (SPM)… with effect from 1st April 2026.” The ministry noted that the import restrictions target goods coming from countries outside the ECOWAS bloc, forming part of efforts to strengthen trade protection. “The approved SPM, in line with the provision of the ECOWAS CET, comprises… Import Prohibition list (Trade), applicable only to certain goods originating from non-ECOWAS Member States. It consists of 17 items,” the circular stated. Annex III of the document lists the affected goods, which include poultry (live, frozen or processed), pork, beef and other meat products such as carcasses and offal; eggs except those meant for breeding or research; refined vegetable oils (excluding linseed, castor and olive oil); packaged sugar; cocoa products; tomatoes in all forms; and non-alcoholic beverages with sweeteners. Other items on the list are bagged cement, various medicaments and pharmaceutical waste, fertilisers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, soaps and detergents, paper and carton materials, large glass bottles, certain steel products, as well as ballpoint pens and related parts. Additionally, the circular introduced an Import Adjustment Tax covering 192 tariff lines, with a plan for gradual removal in line with Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area. It stated, “With effect from January 2027, all Import Adjustment Taxes except for products on the African Continental Free Trade Area 3 per cent list, shall be gradually reduced on an annual basis until full elimination to 0 per cent by 2036.” The government also disclosed that new excise duties, including a green tax, will commence on July 1, 2026, with a 90-day grace period granted for compliance. “A grace period of ninety (90) days commencing from the date of this circular is hereby granted to all importers, manufacturers, and service providers before the implementation of the new excise duty rates,” it added. It further clarified that goods backed by valid import documentation before April 1, 2026, could be cleared under the previous rules within the grace period, while transactions initiated after that date would be subject to the new regime.

@abiodunosemobor @ennyola0015 Many people, including analysts on foreign news media, predicted the same. In fact, some said the threat by Donald Trump was as a result of negotiation. They said he was saying all that because he knew the negotiation was going to be successful. This was before the ceasefire.

@ennyola0015 This is an assumption that cannot be supported by facts. When Dangote hiked its gantry prices, crude was trading at $115pb. No one on this earth apart from Donald Trump could have predicted a 2 week ceasefire. Unless you are saying that Donald told Aliko 2 days ago😂

Guys, you see 🤷: Dangote saw that the ceasefire would calm markets and push global oil prices down. He hiked the gantry price just before that drop, locking in bigger profits😆 basically front-running the fall in costs.

Dangote Refinery raises the gantry price of petrol to N1,275 and diesel to N1,950. The new pricing template shows that petrol rose by N75 per litre to N1,275, representing an increase of about 5.02 per cent, while diesel jumped by N200 per litre to N1,950.

Incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, bows in respect as he greets former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, moments after landing at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, for the commissioning. This, despite a fierce political rivalry (political career ending tbh) between both men that has spanned over two decades. This is the essence of Yoruba culture. Ours is a deep, disciplined tradition of mutual respect, even in the face of conflict. Our forebears captured it perfectly: “Bí a bá ń jà, bí ti ká kú kọ́.” We may disagree, we may contend, we may hold grudges but we do not descend into feral destruction and irreparable chaos to settle scores. We tried that centuries ago and realized it doesn’t solve anything. People who don’t understand this culture of respect often call it cowardice or being 2-faced. But we can’t blame them. This level of composure in the midst of tension and chaos is not weakness. It’s calculated restraint learned over decades/centuries of behavioral refinement. Apparently, this is too sophisticated for our haters to understand. They are not equipped enough to get it.
