They say Islam honoured women.
But then you open the Hadith books and start reading what women were actually told about themselves.
So let’s compare the narrations people preach... with what Allah actually says in the Qur'an.
→ “Women are deficient in intelligence and religion.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 304]
Not in the Qur'an.
→ “The majority of Hell’s inhabitants are women.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 29 / 6449]
Also not in the Qur'an.
→ “A woman, a donkey, and a dog nullify prayer.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 511]
So now women are mentioned alongside animals?
Again, not in the Qur'an.
→ “If a wife refuses her husband, angels curse her all night.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 5194 / Sahih Muslim 1436]
Where is the narration about angels cursing abusive husbands?
Not in the Qur'an either.
→ “No people will succeed if a woman leads them.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 7099]
Yet history is full of male rulers who brought corruption, oppression, and war.
And still... not in the Qur'an.
→ “A woman is awrah. When she leaves, Satan follows her.”
[Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 1173]
So her existence outside the house becomes a source of temptation?
Again, not Allah’s words.
→ “Woman was created from a crooked rib.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 3331]
So women are flawed by design?
Still not in the Qur'an.
→ “Bad omen is in the woman.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 5093]
So now women are linked to misfortune too?
Once again... not in the Qur'an.
And then people wonder why so many Muslim societies treat women the way they do.
These narrations are not random. They create a worldview.
→ She is deficiency it's too long
→ She is temptation
→ She is emotional
→ She must be controlled
Repeat those ideas for centuries and eventually people stop questioning them.
Now before people rush into the comments with:
“You ignored context.”
“There are explanations.”
“You don’t understand Hadith science.”
Yes. Those discussions exist.
But let’s be honest.
Most ordinary Muslims never studied “context.”
They heard the wording exactly as it was preached.
And those exact words shaped cultures, marriages, sermons, laws, and entire generations of women.
You cannot spend centuries normalising certain ideas... then suddenly hide behind “context” when people finally question them.
Now compare that with the Qur'an.
Allah shows us:
→ The Queen of Sheba leading a nation with intelligence and wisdom. (27:23–44)
→ Maryam honoured above all women. (3:42)
→ Men and women equal in reward, faith, and accountability. (33:35)
→ “Believing men and believing women are allies of one another.” (9:71)
No “deficient intelligence.”
No “bad omen.”
No “women are the majority of Hell” narrative.
So when people say:
“Islam gave women rights before the West.”
Ask yourself:
Are they talking about Islam... or later interpretations created by men?
Because the moment women question certain narrations, suddenly those “rights” become conditional.
And that is the real conversation many people are afraid to have.
So sisters, read the Qur'an for yourselves.
Not just through the lens of scholars, culture, or inherited fear.
Read it directly.
Question things.
Reflect deeply.
Because many women were taught to fear asking questions more than they were taught to understand Allah’s words.
God did not reduce women.
But some narrations absolutely shaped societies that did.
And pretending otherwise will never solve the problem.
