Riding with Dutch Ambassador Peter van der Vliet from #Seoul to #Busan in 3.5 days was wonderful way to say Shalom to #Korea. The beauty of the Namhan and Nakdong river valleys and the Ihwaryeong watershed that joins them is the spirit of this land of endless rice fields and hard-earned prosperity. An epic journey โ recommended for everyone, but maybe not in August. ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐ต @VlietSeoul
As a former National Assembly Speaker, Kim Jin-pyo was like the Biblical Aaron โ a bridge between camps, a principled peacemaker, a great friend and defender of @Israel and the #Korean democracy. We exchanged books, his new one is on the lessons learned serving ten Korean governments. Mine is on the Bible.
Taking leave from the former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, he shared his deepest wish for peace in our region. SG Ban was always attentive and available, even though he is far my senior. We may not have agreed at all times, but I always listened and learned.

Former Foreign Minister Park Jin took me on a farewell hike to Bukhansanโฐ๏ธ with @euinkorea Ambassador Maria Castillo Fernandez (@castiml), @UKREmbinKorea Ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko (@DP_UA1972), and @CzechEmbSeoul Ambassador Ivan Jancarek of the Czech Republic. We visited the Grand Monk Jong Hu of Nojeoksa Temple. When the rock above the temple falls, the Koreas will be united.
