35-year-old Kwabena Badam, a yam farmer at Abongo No. 1 in the Oti Region has been arrested for shooting and killing a suspected yam thief caught on his farm. According to preliminary reports, Mr. Badam had been on the lookout for the perpetrator of a string of thefts on his farm, leading him to hide on the farm at night. Unbeknownst to the suspected yam thief that the farmer had been lying in wait, he returned at around midnight on Saturday, attempting to steal another sack of yams before being fatally shot.
