We welcome the adoption by Albania’s parliament designating the Islamic Republic of Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism and declaring the IRGC as a terrorist organization. This important step acknowledges the reality of a regime that fuels terror, destabilizes the region, and threatens democratic societies worldwide. The international community must act with clarity and take coordinated action to hold Iran accountable.

Great exchange of views in Madrid with @CharlesTpowell and the experts at the Elcano Royal Institute @rielcano 🇦🇱🇪🇸. We took a deep dive into EU enlargement in the #WesternBalkans as a strategic necessity, and discussed the complex challenges currently facing both the #EU and #NATO. We also shared perspectives on the evolving situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. Valuable insights contributing to a safer, stronger, and more integrated #Europe.

🇦🇱🇪🇸 Any meaningful conversation about #Europe must involve the #youth. I had a truly substantive, energetic, and inspiring exchange with students from #Universidad Carlos III of Madrid @uc3m, whose curiosity, critical thinking, and engagement highlight the vital role young people play in shaping #Europe’s future. Dialogue with youth is not only enriching—it is essential. Their questions, ideas, and expectations challenge us to do better, to lead with integrity, and to ensure that the #European project remains dynamic, inclusive, and forward-looking. I was pleased to address their thoughtful questions on #Albania’s journey through reforms, good governance, and the strengthening of the rule of law, transformative processes that continue to bring our country closer to the European Union. I was particularly impressed by their strong interest in EU #enlargement—an imperative for Albania, but also a clear strategic investment for the Union itself. I underscored the central place EU issues hold in our daily political life and our ongoing modernization drive, firmly anchoring our future within the European family to which we naturally belong. It is encouraging to share with this young generation the conviction that, in these complex and uncertain times, the EU 🇪🇺 must continue to demonstrate unity, cohesion, and vision.

We welcome the decision to finally lift all EU measures against #Kosova. This step was long overdue and confirms Kosova’s commitment to #European values, the rule of law, and constructive regional cooperation. Today’s decision opens the way for full and unimpeded access to EU funds, assistance and overall cooperation. It helps rebuild trust, and reinforces the credibility of the EU integration process. Advancing Kosova’s European path—including by examining without delay its application for EU #candidate status, will contribute to a more stable and secure region. It will also reconfirm and reinforce the European perspective of all #WesternBalkan countries.

🇦🇱🇦🇱🇺🇸 Pleased to meet with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in #Albania, Nancy VanHorn. We reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between our two countries, our close cooperation and longstanding friendship, as well as our steadfast alliance within #NATO. The United States remains a key ally and strategic partner for #Albania. We discussed regional and global security developments, including the current situation in the Middle East. Albania stands firmly with its allies in supporting efforts to prevent the #Iranian regime from acquiring nuclear or other weapons of mass destruction and to safeguard regional and international peace. The security of our allies is non-negotiable. We also exchanged views on our continued collaboration, the importance of regional security, strengthening democratic resilience, and Albania’s path toward #EU membership.

We welcome that it is once again firmly anchored at the core of the European agenda. We maintain that the process must remain firmly merit-based and rooted in reforms that bring our country every day closer to Europe—and Europe closer to the aspirations and needs of our citizens. #Albania has prepared for this moment through deep and transformative institutional reforms, full alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, and a society whose commitment to the European project remains iron-clad. Albania condemns in the strongest terms the Iranian regime’s ballistic missile attack against Türkiye. The fact that this is the second such attack in recent days is deeply alarming and further underscores the aggressive and destabilizing nature of these actions. Türkiye is a brotherly country, a strategic partner of Albania, and a valued NATO Ally. Attempts by the Iranian regime to project tensions and instability by continued attacks against its neighbors are extremely dangerous. Such actions risk further escalating the situation and pose a serious threat to regional and international security. Albania applauds NATO’s swift response in defending the Alliance’s territory, airspace, and citizens. The blind and desperate attacks of the Khomeinist Republic against the United Arab Emirates are not merely an assault on a sovereign nation. They are an assault on stability, prosperity, and on the very idea that the Middle East can be defined by peace and cooperation rather than by war and chaos. Targeting a peaceful oasis like Dubai with missiles of hate and destruction reveals once again the true nature of the medieval regime in Tehran. This is the reflex of a system doomed to fail, one that exports violence and uses terror as a weapon against peace-seeking neighbours to scare not just them, but first and foremost its own freedom seeking people. The United Arab Emirates has become a global symbol of peace promotion, openness to dialogue, economic dynamism, interfaith coexistence, and cultural vitality. It represents a model of what a modern Middle East can look like: confident, connected, forward-looking, and simply beautiful. To strike at it blindly is to strike at the very possibility of a region that has chosen development over destruction, cooperation over confrontation, peace over war. Albania stands in full and unwavering solidarity with the leadership and the people of the United Arab Emirates. Security in the Gulf is not a local concern; it is a global imperative. Any attempt to destabilize it threatens not only energy routes, trade corridors, and the fragile architecture of regional peace, but the broader equilibrium of international security. The international community must speak with clarity and unity: state-sponsored aggression, missile attacks against civilian environments, and deliberate destabilization by a regime that kills its own people on a massive scale cannot leave any place for the Khomeinist Republic in the community of nations, regardless of differences in systems or political views. The path forward for the region is not written in missiles, but in mutual recognition, economic integration, and responsible leadership. The UAE, under the visionary direction of its great leader, President Mohammed Bin Zayed, has chosen to be a lighthouse of stability and progress for all peace-loving nations. Those who choose darkness and destruction should find themselves isolated by a world that stands for stability, cooperation, and peace 🇦🇱❤️🇦🇪

It’s high time to cut the rope and go straight to the point. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a terrorist organization and it must be treated as such. Not only through sanctions against the Khomeinist Republic, but by officially calling it by its true name and listing it among terrorist organizations, as the United States and Canada have already done. Not only because we stand firm with Israel and with the peace-seeking brotherly Arab countries. Not only because we support the United States in militarily supporting Israel today under the leadership of President Donald Trump. Not only because the European Union, through President Ursula von der Leyen, has once again underlined today the murderous nature of the Tehran regime. But first and foremost, on a day like this, when acts, not just words, are required, in honoring the endless innocent victims of the bloody Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Albania has faced firsthand the barbaric face of the Tehran regime through its cyber aggressions against our country. For us, this is not abstract geopolitics. It is national security, moral and legal clarity. Albania will act accordingly. We will call the Revolutionary Guard what it is and list it among terrorist organizations, and we call upon our European friends to do the same. We fully endorse every decisive effort to prevent once and for all the murderers in Tehran from acquiring nuclear or any other military capacity to harm Israel or any other peace-loving nation in the Middle East. Terrorism must be named. And once named, it must be stopped.
