I was pleased to address this morning the 11th OSCE South-East Europe Media Conference, “Strengthening #Journalism as a Public Good”, which is taking place in #Tirana. #Albania remains firmly committed to strengthening media freedom, protecting the safety of journalists, promoting #MediaPluralism, and further aligning with European #standards as part of our #EU accession path. At a time when the media landscape has become increasingly complex and challenging everywhere, we will continue working to foster an environment where free, independent, professional, and ethical journalism can genuinely thrive, where media freedom is not only protected, but continuously strengthened, renewed, and defended. In an era marked by disinformation, polarization and rapidly evolving digital realities, safeguarding the integrity and independence of journalism is more important than ever. A safer and more enabling environment for journalists and media professionals is essential not only for stronger democratic institutions and greater public trust, but also for more resilient, informed, and healthier societies. Albania is proud to join today the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), alongside Finland and Sweden. Today’s flag-raising ceremony marks not only Albania’s formal accession to this prestigious NATO Centre of Excellence, but also a significant step forward in strengthening our contribution to Allied security, resilience, and collective defence in cyberspace. This milestone reflects Albania’s growing role within the Alliance and our firm commitment to addressing evolving cyber threats in an increasingly complex security environment. Cyber defence is now an indispensable component of NATO’s deterrence and defence posture. Through membership in the CCDCOE, Albania will deepen cooperation with Allies and partners, expand access to advanced expertise, training, and exercises, and further strengthen our national cyber capabilities, including the protection of critical institutions and infrastructure. As Albania prepares to host the next NATO Summit in Tirana, we remain fully committed to reinforcing Allied unity, investing in modern capabilities, and contributing actively to NATO’s adaptation to emerging challenges across all domains, including cyberspace. 🇦🇱🇫🇮🇸🇪 #NATO

Russia’s latest massive wave of drone and ballistic missile attacks against Ukraine, targeting Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa and other regions, is yet another brutal reminder of its ongoing aggression, its complete disregard for human life, and its continued objective to destroy Ukraine. These attacks demonstrate once again that Russia has no genuine interest in peace. I was pleased to meet today in Tirana with the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Swedish Parliament, led by Morgan Johansson, for a constructive and engaging discussion. 🇦🇱🇸🇪 I expressed my sincere appreciation for #Sweden’s continued support for Albania’s #European accession process, as well as for the valuable contribution Sweden has provided over the years to Albania’s democratic, institutional, and socio-economic development. We exchanged views on #Albania’s progress in the EU accession negotiations, highlighting the importance of maintaining the momentum of reforms and advancing further on key priorities related to the rule of law, democratic institutions, and good governance. We also discussed the need to address common regional and global challenges through closer coordination, dialogue, and cooperation among partners and allies. I underlined Albania’s strong commitment to further strengthening our excellent bilateral relations with Sweden, deepening parliamentary cooperation, and expanding collaboration in all areas of shared strategic importance. Albania highly values Sweden’s friendship and partnership, and we look forward to continuing our close cooperation in support of a stronger, more united, and forward-looking #Europe. #Horizon2030

📍Bratislava: Very pleased to have a first meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of #Italy, Antonio Tajani @Antonio_Tajani 🇦🇱🇮🇹 We reaffirmed the excellent relations between #Albania and #Italy, rooted in a special friendship between our peoples, deep historical ties and an ever-growing strategic partnership. We highlighted the outstanding level of bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas, including high-level political dialogue, defense, energy, security, connectivity, economy, trade, culture and people-to-people exchanges. We also underlined our strong like-mindedness on key European, regional and international issues, as well as our shared commitment to peace, security, regional stability and the European future of the #WesternBalkans. Italy remains not only a close friend, a close partner and a strategic ally, but also one of Albania’s strongest supporters on our European accession path. I expressed Albania’s sincere gratitude for Italy’s continuous, unwavering and tangible support for our EU integration process, and particularly commended Italy’s steadfast role as one of the strongest advocates of Albania’s European perspective, both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU. Together, we will continue to strengthen cooperation across all areas of shared interest for the benefit of our countries, our citizens and a stronger #Europe. I also gladly accepted Minister Tajani’s invitation to visit #Rome in the coming weeks.

Diskutimi i sotëm i veçantë në Kuvend mbi ecurinë e procesit të #anëtarësimit të Shqipërisë në #BashkiminEvropian përbën një moment të rëndësishëm politik dhe institucional në mbështetje të objektivit tonë madhor kombëtar dhe për synimin strategjik të vendit për t’u bërë pjesë e familjes evropiane. Marrëdhëniet tona me Bashkimin Evropian dhe vendet anëtare nuk kanë qenë asnjëherë më të ngushta, më konkrete, më përmbajtësore dhe më premtuese se sot. Në bazë të kësaj marrëdhëniejeje janë negociatat e anëtarësimit, një proces i bazuar në meritë, ku rezultatet konkrete dhe reformat reale mbeten kriteri i vetem i vlerësimit nga partnerët tanë. Ky debat është një mundësi e shkëlqyer për të riafirmuar përkushtimin tonë të përbashkët ndaj procesit të anëtarësimit, për të vlerësuar progresin e arritur deri më sot, por edhe për të reflektuar mbi përgjegjësitë dhe #sfidat që kemi përpara, përfshirë mbi ato aspekte e fusha ku duhet të bëhet me shumë dhe më mirë. Anëtarësimi në BE dhe vetë procesi i #negociatave nuk janë dhe nuk duhet të konsiderohen vetëm si një proces teknik apo institucional. Ndonëse këto dimensione janë të paevitueshme dhe thelbësore, anëtarësimi në BE është mbi të gjitha një projekt transformues kombëtar, që kërkon vizion afatgjatë, vullnet dhe bashkëpunim politik dhe angazhim të qëndrueshëm nga të gjitha institucionet, forcat politike dhe nga e gjithë shoqëria. Në këtë proces madhor dhe transformues, askush nuk është i përjashtuar dhe secili ka një rol për të luajtur në funksion të së mirës së përbashkët. Prandaj është thelbësore që #Kuvendi të vijojë të luajë rolin e tij të pazëvendësueshëm në mbështetje të reformave, në forcimin e #dialogut demokratik e përmbajtësor dhe në konsolidimin e #konsensusit kombëtar për të ardhmen evropiane të Shqipërisë. Sepse anëtarësimi në BE është një investim #strategjik për Shqipërinë e së nesërmes, për një vend më të fortë, më demokratik, më të zhvilluar dhe më të sigurt. Është një angazhim që u shërben të gjithë qytetarëve, e veçanërisht fëmijëve e të rinjve të sotëm, të cilët nesër do të jenë qytetarë të Bashkimit Evropian, me më shumë mundësi, siguri dhe dinjitet. 📍Brussels: Very pleased to participate today, for the first time in my new capacity, in the informal meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union with their counterparts from the #WesternBalkans. The key points I shared with European and regional colleagues: 👉 The world as we once knew it has been profoundly shaken. The rules and certainties we long considered guarantees of stability now appear increasingly fragile. Overlapping crises, geopolitical fragmentation and intensifying strategic competition have moved to center stage. In such a context, unity of purpose and unity of action are no longer optional — they are imperative. For #Albania, unity means coming together in every possible format to build stronger cohesion, greater resilience and a clearer geopolitical vision. But ultimately, the clearest expression of that vision is enlargement and European accession. 👉 For Albania, #EUEnlargement is our lifeline, a strategic choice, a civilizational anchor and the strongest guarantee for long-term peace, stability and democratic transformation. We also believe enlargement is equally important for the European Union itself, as demonstrated by every previous seven enlargement cycles. It must remain merit-based, of course, but also #credible, #tangible and #actively pursued. Whenever the process stalls, vulnerabilities emerge and hostile influences expand. 👉 This is precisely why we must deepen cooperation in foreign, security and defence policy, while strengthening cohesiveness and strategic like-mindedness across #Europe. For Albania, alignment with the European Union is not a menu from which to selectively choose. It is a standard and a commitment to be fully respected. In this regard, we allow ourselves only one #percentage: 100%. 👉 Strengthening #RegionalCooperation also means addressing vulnerabilities honestly and resolving pending issues with determination. The #WesternBalkans have undoubtedly changed for the better, but important work remains. The Balkans of the past may belong to history, yet much still needs to be done for the region to fully deserve the political and democratic meaning of “Western”, and not merely its geographical definition. 👉 Albania has consistently invested, and will continue to invest in regional cooperation and reconciliation because we remain convinced there is no viable alternative. In particular, the #NormalizationProcess between Kosovo and Serbia cannot and must not become an empty slogan or a permanently postponed objective. Twenty-seven years after the tragic events of 1999, the region deserves a future defined by stability, mutual recognition, cooperation and European integration. 👉 No country is immune to #Cyber or #HybridThreats. Albania’s experience has been painful and costly, but also instructive. We were seriously targeted, yet we learned, adapted and strengthened our resilience. We harbor no illusions: the closer we move toward the European Union, the more sophisticated and aggressive such threats will become, including through foreign information manipulation and interference (#FIMI). This is why closer cooperation and stronger resilience are essential. 🇦🇱 Albania will continue to pursue actively and unwaveringly its top national objective: membership in the European Union. We remain determined to do everything necessary to stay at the forefront of this historic process and make it a shared success, for Albania, for the region and for Europe. It was heartening to see these convictions resonate strongly around the #European table today. 🇪🇺 #Horizon2030

A timely and productive meeting today, on the margins of the FAC, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the #Netherlands, Tom Berendsen @ministerBZ 🇦🇱🇳🇱 We acknowledged the excellent state of Albania–Netherlands relations and reaffirmed our shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation across political, economic, security and #European affairs. I expressed Albania’s appreciation for the Netherlands’ constructive and principled role in supporting our EU accession process, as well as for its continued engagement in promoting stability, the rule of law and democratic resilience in the #WesternBalkans. I reiterated Albania’s firm determination to advance negotiations at an ambitious pace by delivering concrete reforms and meeting all required benchmarks through a credible and merit-based process. For #Albania, the key words remain clear: #reforms and their effective #implementation. 🇪🇺 Albania remains fully committed to its EU #accession path and to working closely and relentlessly with all European partners for a stronger, safer and more united #Europe. #StrongerTogether

Very pleased to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Oana-Silvia Țoiu @oana_toiu. 🇦🇱🇷🇴 We reaffirmed the excellent and longstanding ties between #Albania and #Romania, underlining our shared determination to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across areas of common interest and for the benefit of our citizens. I conveyed our deep appreciation for Romania’s continued and valuable support for Albania’s EU accession process and reiterated our commitment to intensifying cooperation in support of regional stability, stronger connectivity and the European future of the #WesternBalkans. Our discussion also highlighted the importance of enhancing collaboration in education, people-to-people exchanges, including economic and commercial cooperation in order to fully unlock the strong potential of our bilateral #partnership. In this respect, we agreed to further strengthen our #cultural cooperation as a meaningful way to deepen the longstanding friendship and partnership between our countries, as an important investment in our shared #European future and the ties between our peoples. #StrongerTogether

It was a pleasure to meet my Swedish counterpart, @MariaStenergard, on the margins of the #FAC. 🇦🇱🇸🇪 We once again reaffirmed the excellent relations between #Albania and #Sweden, including as #NATO Allies, and exchanged views on shared priorities, including EU #enlargement, regional security, Euro-Atlantic cooperation and ways to further strengthen and deepen our bilateral partnership. I expressed Albania’s deep appreciation for Sweden’s longstanding support, including through #SIDA, as well as for its principled and consistent backing of Albania’s EU #accession path. Sweden remains a highly valued partner in supporting our reform agenda, rule of law, democratic consolidation and European future. We also discussed the importance of closer cooperation in addressing common challenges, strengthening resilience, promoting sustainable development and advancing stability and prosperity across the #WesternBalkans. As we look ahead to the NATO #Ministerial meeting taking place on 21–22 May in #Helsingborg, we reaffirmed the importance of maintaining our unwavering support for #Ukraine and its just cause, while continuing to work together for a stronger, safer and more united #Europe. #StrongerTogether #Horizon2030

While in #Brussels, I was very pleased to meet with Andreas Schieder @SCHIEDER, Rapporteur for #Albania in the European Parliament. 🇦🇱🇪🇺 I thanked him warmly for his excellent work and continued commitment regarding the recent Resolution on Albania adopted by the AFET Committee, which sends a strong and encouraging message in support of our #European accession path. We exchanged views on the progress of Albania’s EU negotiations process, the importance of sustaining the current reform momentum, and our shared objective of advancing Albania’s European future through a credible, merit-based and forward-looking process. #Albania highly values the important role and continued support of the @Europarl_EN and all friends of #enlargement who believe in a stronger, more united and forward-looking #Europe. #Horizon2030
