Albania in the UK 🇦🇱🇬🇧

Today I had the great honour of presenting my credentials, as Ambassador of Albania, to HM King Charles III. We had a warm chat about our alliance, our shared values, and mutual admiration. His Majesty is very keen on visiting Albania. Long live the King! Long Live Albania!

Një ditë vërtet e veçantë dhe emocionuese me arbëreshët në #Vena di Maida, në zemër të #Kalabrisë, një nga ato hapësira në #Itali ku historia shqiptare vazhdon të jetojë e të flasë prej më shumë se pesë shekujsh, ku gjuha, traditat dhe identiteti ynë kombëtar janë ruajtur me përkushtim të jashtëzakonshëm nga brezi në brez. Së bashku me Kryetarin e Bashkisë, z. Salvatore Paone, të cilin e falënderoj për mikpritjen e ngrohtë, si dhe me personalitete të shquara të botës akademike dhe kulturore arbëreshe, ndër ta Prof. Francesco Stirparo, Prof. Cettina Mazzei dhe Prof. Francesco Altimari, morëm pjesë në edicionin e XXXI të Manifestimit Kulturor Folklorik për Vlerësimin e Pakicave Gjuhësore, organizuar nga Shoqata Kulturore “Progetto Caraffa”. Ishte një tjetër dëshmi e gjallë e forcës së identitetit arbëresh dhe e kontributit të pashlyeshëm që komunitetet arbëreshe kanë dhënë e vazhdojnë të japin në ruajtjen e trashëgimisë sonë kombëtare. Përmes familjes, shkollës, shoqatave kulturore dhe jetës komunitare, ata kanë arritur të mbajnë gjallë gjuhën shqipe, zakonet, kujtesën historike dhe ndjenjën e përkatësisë shqiptare për më shumë se pesë shekuj. Shpreha mirënjohjen time më të thellë për çdo individ dhe familje arbëreshe që e ruan këtë trashëgimi me aq dashuri, krenari dhe përkushtim. #Arbëreshët nuk janë vetëm ruajtës të kujtesës sonë historike; ata janë një pjesë e gjallë e kombit shqiptar dhe një pasuri e çmuar e kulturës #evropiane. Rikonfirmova angazhimin e plotë të #Shqipërisë, të institucioneve tona dhe të #Ministrisë për Evropën dhe Punët e Jashtme për forcimin e mëtejshëm të lidhjeve akademike, shkencore, kulturore dhe shoqërore me komunitetet arbëreshe. Në këtë drejtim, vlerësova veçanërisht rolin e rëndësishëm të universiteteve, të katedrave të gjuhës dhe letërsisë shqipe, të studiuesve dhe intelektualëve arbëreshë, të cilët prej dekadash kanë dhënë një kontribut të pazëvendësueshëm në studimin, mbrojtjen dhe promovimin e gjuhës e kulturës sonë. Po aq i rëndësishëm mbetet edhe mbështetja e vazhdueshme e institucioneve italiane, e autoriteteve qendrore dhe vendore, të cilat kanë ndihmuar në ruajtjen dhe promovimin e këtij mozaiku të pasur kulturor që përbën një vlerë të shtuar për Italinë dhe për gjithë #Evropën. Arbëreshët janë sot një urë e gjallë lidhëse mes Shqipërisë dhe Italisë, mes dy brigjeve të Adriatikut dhe Jonit, një urë e ndërtuar mbi histori, kulturë, kujtesë dhe miqësi. Ata përfaqësojnë një shembull të vyer e të veçantë se si identiteti mund të ruhet dhe të pasurohet përmes bashkëjetesës, dialogut dhe integrimit. Në këtë kuadër, mirëpritëm edhe projektet e reja që synojnë forcimin e lidhjeve me komunitetet arbëreshe, përfshirë #Muzeun e ri të Arbëreshëve në #Vuno, i cili pritet të shërbejë si një qendër moderne kujtese, studimi, edukimi dhe dialogu kulturor, duke afruar edhe më shumë Shqipërinë me bijtë dhe bijat e saj arbëreshe. Historia jonë e përbashkët nuk është vetëm një kujtim i së kaluarës; ajo është një pasuri e gjallë që na frymëzon të ndërtojmë së bashku të ardhmen. 🇦🇱🇮🇹

Albania condemns the Russian drone strike in Galați, #Romania, which hit a residential building and injured civilians, including a minor. We express our full solidarity with the people and authorities of Romania and wish a swift and full recovery to those injured. This incident represents a serious and irresponsible escalation on the part of the Russian Federation and further underscores the absurdity and human cost of Russia’s war against #Ukraine, whose consequences continue to threaten the security and safety of civilians beyond Ukraine’s borders. #Albania will continue to stand in full solidarity with our allies and partners, in supporting coordinated efforts to put an end to this war in defense of peace, security and the fundamental principles of international law. @MAERomania

It is always important to engage with scholars and civil society to exchange views on issues of primary importance. Our future will certainly depend on our ability to understand, interpret, and guide the profound transformations of our time. It was therefore a great pleasure to speak at #Bocconi University’s School of Management in Rome, with a particular focus on Albania–Italy relations and the European future of the #WesternBalkans. #Albania today stands among the most pro-European countries and among those that have clearly understood that the secure path to Europe lies in advancing day by day through reforms, democratic consolidation, and a clear strategic vision. More democratic, more open, more self-confident, and more European than ever before, Albania represents a concrete example of how the #European perspective can transform societies and strengthen regional stability. The success of this #enlargement wave by the 2030 is not only strategic for Albania and the Western Balkans, but also essential for the future strength, unity, and credibility of Europe itself. A successful European integration of the region would reaffirm the transformative power of the European project at a time of profound geopolitical change. #Italy has unquestionably been part of this journey, through sustained support, investment, and cooperation programmes. Over time, and on these solid foundations, our relationship has evolved into a truly Strategic Partnership, reflecting the depth of our ties and our shared vision for #Europe’s future. “Albania has taken one of the biggest steps yet on its path to the European Union. It became the second candidate country, after Montenegro, to meet the interim rule of law benchmarks. The Member States have set the final goalposts on the rule of law, fundamental rights, justice, anti-corruption and the fight against organised crime. It means Albania can now move towards closing chapters in its EU negotiations. This is a major achievement. It is the result of more than a decade of hard work by Albania and its people. Albania adopted laws to protect fundamental rights and vulnerable groups. It strengthened the right to a fair trial. It vetted hundreds of judges and prosecutors. It built new judicial institutions to reduce political influence in the justice system. It also created SPAK, the Special Structure against Corruption and Organised Crime. SPAK has become Albania’s flagship anti-corruption body and is now the most trusted institution in the country. It’s a moment to celebrate. But it is also a moment for Albania to double down on reforms, involve all political forces, listen to civil society and deliver changes that matter to people’s daily lives. A big step forward. Albania considers #Russia’s announcement urging diplomatic personnel and foreign citizens to leave #Kyiv ahead of planned strikes to be utterly unacceptable. Threatening embassies is not #diplomacy; it is intimidation. It represents yet another violation of international law and of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. #Albania is not backing down. We remain in Kyiv. We stand firmly with #Ukraine. And we will not be intimidated. The answer to this war cannot be more war, more #crimes or indiscriminate attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure. The only path forward is to end a war that should never have started, and to engage in genuine, good-faith #peace negotiations. This was conveyed in clear terms today to the Russion Ambassador in #Tirana. #StandWithUkraine

Wall of #Enlargement — Change is coming. 🇦🇱🇪🇺 👉 On 14 October 2024, everything for Albania was red. Not a single chapter had been opened. 👉 Eleven months later, on 17 November 2025, everything turned yellow. All 33 chapters were opened. 👉 Following the 8th Intergovernmental Conference on the #IBAR held yesterday, the biggest test so far in our accelerated accession process, the colours are beginning to change once again. They will soon start turning green, the final stage, before ultimately turning "blue" by 2030. We know this well: Albania’s path to EU membership is only credible when it is earned, merit-based, grounded in real transformation, and driven by a truly European mindset. That is exactly what we are doing. What once seemed distant, inaccessible, or even impossible to many is now becoming reality: step by step, reform by reform, commitment by commitment, every single day, together with our partners. Thank you to everyone in Team Europe Albania; Thank you to Commissioner @MartaKosEU and to our colleagues in the European Commission for their remarkable dedication; Thank you to the current Presidency, @CY2026EU, for its true commitment and leadership; And thank you to all Member States for their understanding, support, and partnership, demanding precisely because it has been sincere. La dynamique des relations entre l’Albanie 🇦🇱 et la France 🇫🇷 n’a jamais été aussi riche, solide et prometteuse. J’ai exprimé ma profonde reconnaissance pour la position claire et constante de la #France en faveur d’une #Europe élargie, plus unie, plus forte et toujours solidaire, capable d’affronter et de répondre aux défis d’un monde de plus en plus turbulent. Deeply saddened by the tragic level crossing accident in Buggenhout, Belgium, which claimed the lives of four people, including two children. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families and all those affected by this devastating loss. Albania stands in solidarity with the people and Government of Belgium during this difficult time. Our thoughts are also with the injured children, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.

Excellent meeting in Vilnius with my Lithuanian counterpart @BudrysKestutis, whom I thank warmly for the hospitality. 🇦🇱🤝🇱🇹 We reaffirmed the strong friendship between #Albania and #Lithuania, built on shared European values, Euro-Atlantic solidarity and a common commitment to security and stability as close NATO allies. Albania is grateful for Lithuania’s steadfast support to EU #enlargement and, in particular, Albania’s EU #accession path. We look forward to further strengthen our cooperation during the Lithuanian #Presidency of the Council of the EU, in the first half of 2027, and I welcomed the assurance to keep enlargement high on the European agenda. We discussed ways to deepen our bilateral cooperation in key areas, especially our economic and trade ties, ITCs and tourism. The Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion we signed today serves this purpose. We also discussed the security situation in the #Baltic region and in the wider European landcape in the face of the continued threat from Russia's aggression in Ukraine. We shared our full likemindedness on the need to continue to support Ukraine and its just cause and maintain pressure on Russia to end its war of choice. IN this regard, we will continue working closely within NATO, including by drawing on Lithuania’s valuable experience as Albania prepares to host the #NATO Summit in Tirana in 2027. We also signed an #agreement on the avoidance of double taxation, adding another important layer to our bilateral legal framework and helping to further strengthen economic cooperation and business ties between our two countries. I was pleased to announce the participation and contribution of Albania to the Pan-European #Memorial for the Victims of 20th Century Totalitarian Regimes. We will continue to strengthen our political dialogue, enhance our cooperation and explore every oportunity to open new avenues in our bilateral and multilateral cooperation, to the benefit of our countries and our societies.

📍Vilnius. Pleasure to meet with Mr. Remigijus Motuzas, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs of #Lithuania. We agreed on the important role of #parliamentary diplomacy and enhanced inter-parliamentary cooperation as valuable instruments for advancing our common objectives, including #Albania’s path toward EU membership, for which we are grateful for Lithuania’s continued support. In an increasingly complex and fragile security environment, our two countries remain firmly aligned in strengthening #NATO unity, safeguarding Euro-Atlantic security, and defending democratic values. #Russia’s ongoing aggression against #Ukraine remains the greatest threat to #Europe’s security architecture.
