@TiffanyFong_ If you had to pay for your ID, and you have to use that ID to access the polls, you are paying a Poll tax. Look up the history of poll taxes. Thats the reason many, not all, legislatures require a free ID option to be available. Laws result in fewer POC voting = systemic racism.

@pyle_of_kent @BryanKryder The greater issue, to me, is what percentage of this population is under the age of 18? I suspect is nearly 1/3. People don’t pick where they’re born.

@Al_Carroll @BryanKryder I don’t doubt that at all. The issue is that overall the Midwest (IN, IL, OH, MI & KY) saw population decreases for last year with Indiana & Kentucky being the only ones that had any growth (although minimal). Source: Macrotrends website macrotrends.net/states/indiana…

I’ll never understand how legislators from areas where talented people grow up and leave, come to Indianapolis every year just to pass legislation to chase more people away. We aren’t Florida. Policy matters when it’s not 80 degrees in February.

@BryanKryder @Al_Carroll I completely agree with you. That’s why I said the flip side is the pure population growth compared to neighboring states. They don’t currently see it as a quality issue.

@Al_Carroll I completely understand your viewpoint on this. I think it speaks to the talent gap that we have. The flip side of this argument is that legislators are emboldened by the fact that our state has the largest population growth over the past 20 years compared to MI, IL, OH and KY.
