If you agree that Rarara who is versed in QURANIC knowledge, can read and write in Arabic text, Hausa and Ajami is an illiterate, then by extension you’re agreeing that all our ulama that didn’t acquire western education are illiterates, all major Muslim scholars that shaped the western knowledge and sciences like Alkwarizmi, Algorithm founder, Abysina et al are illiterates. Rarara has single-handedly overshadowed Davido’s alleged attempt to discredit Nigeria in the eyes of the world with just one video. People are now talking about Rarara’s response and have largely forgotten whatever stunt Davido pulled at the World Cup opening ceremony. At this point, Rarara has proven that he wields more influence than Debidoo in Nigeria.

I disagree with Rarara on most of his views. However, it is wrong for Davido to label him as uneducated, and equally wrong for our Northern people to accept that characterization simply because he does not possess a formal certificate. Rarara has received a substantial Islamic education and therefore cannot fairly be described as uneducated. He can read and write in Arabic script, which is itself a form of literacy and learning. Education is not defined solely by Western-style certificates. This is an important clarification to make.
