If tariffs are a terrible idea and no sane politician would use them, why do 90% of America's "partner" nations use tariffs against America? I'm really trying to understand why an economic tool that's been used by other countries for a long time, is suddenly bad. 🫤

That’s iffy because our healthcare costs and relatively high labor costs it makes the math a little fuzzy for a company to choose between paying the tax or taking on new facilities in the U.S.

@oravec71937 @BradRTorgersen @ClassicComics3 The Democrat Party came into existence because of opposition from Southern States over the ill effects the tariffs had on the south which lacked an industrial base. If we had an established industrial base and we used tariffs to protect domestic production that’s one thing.

@GirlJville @BradRTorgersen @ClassicComics3 If we had an abundance of labor the tariffs might be beneficial but because our labor market is tight, the companies are going to see our high costs associated with providing healthcare and competitive salaries they will likely just pass the tax on rather than build here.
