@MaxJGao @SterlingKBrown I wish more people understood this, but I also can't blame people for not understanding industries they aren't part of. Example, there are all kinds of differences bwtn broadcast, basic cable & premium cable (& now streamers) and a lot of people think it all works the same.

@karkopolo @timewarpoets I’ve seen a few ppl ask if they should dump their kindle and I’m like - you paid for it already and it works, so no. But you can ebooks other places. Like giving Amazon $200 for a kindle once is way less damage than the money I spend on physical books from other booksellers 😂

people in my replies telling me to try xyz app instead. trust me i’ve tried them all and as much as i wish i loved them i didn’t like a single one. goodreads is flawed but it works almost perfectly for my brain, in a way no other app does im sorry😭

@karkopolo @timewarpoets But a few years ago I wanted to build a strong habit again. Storygraph was new and woman owned so I joined it. No app is perfect (even thread was about an update that took forever) so I’m sticking with SG for now.

@karkopolo @timewarpoets Yes! It’s hard. If GR had an app way back, I’d probably be stuck too. I never got into the website and once GR synced with Kindle, I was reading too sporadically to care about tracking.

@kyliethekoifish @timewarpoets Storygraph does. I’m sure good reads has more just because they are a large and more looming presence. But way back when I used good reads I don’t think I ever entered a giveaway anyway.

@karkopolo @timewarpoets I wanted a Mac years ago but didn’t want to spend the $. Once I realized how seamlessly it worked with my iPhone and iPad, I got one. Now I’d never switch phone or computer platforms until I was willing to switch both. And then later I even got a watch. They got me.

@karkopolo @timewarpoets Not making any judgements here just saying - that’s how Amazon does it. They own the loop - biggest bookseller, dominating ebooks, creating an ereader and app. They own the ecosystem.
That said, I look at goodreads for reviews but I don’t log my stuff there anymore or login
