I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to sit down with my friend @EdMylett on The Ed Mylett Show. This is honestly one of the BEST interviews I’ve ever been a part of. We go deep on: • Developing a true Next Play Mentality • Why confidence is built on process — not outcomes • The power of mastering the basics • Emotional control in sports, business, and parenting • Why fulfillment beats chasing happiness If you’ve ever struggled with replaying mistakes… If you’ve ever let one failure define you… If you’re ready to make your next play your best play… This conversation is for you. 🎧 Apple: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the… 🎧 Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/0M1WLE… 📺 YouTube: youtu.be/BspU1vRP3CU?si… Grateful. Fired up. Let’s go make your next play your best one.

Guilt is feeling bad about something you did or something you said. Shame is feeling bad about who you are. Guilt can help you improve behavior and make better decisions. Shame will debilitate you. You are not your mistakes.

There are only two things you control 100% of the time: Your effort. Your attitude. Extraordinary leaders choose both—every single day.

Give people grace. You have no idea what they are going through. Assume everyone is doing the best they can with the tools they have at that moment.

Listening is the most underrated skill with the highest return. In a world obsessed with talking, pitching, and proving… the real pros are mastering the pause. Want to lead better? Listen deeper. Want to sell more? Listen harder. Want stronger relationships? Listen with intent, not just ears. Listening is a performance tool. It builds trust, uncovers truth, and turns conversations into connections. The best don’t always speak the most — they listen the best.

The main pillar of inner peace is learning to detach from the need for external validation. It’s OK to appreciate it, but needing it is a dangerous trap that gives your power away.

“Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.” Self-control and patience are invaluable. Rushing increases mistakes and poor decisions.

The past already happened. Stop spending energy there. Refocus on the next play and control the only two things that are always yours: your effort and your attitude.

Most people talk about work ethic like it’s all gas, no brakes. Grind harder. Push longer. Do more. But the highest performers I’ve worked with—from elite athletes to top executives—understand something different: A great work ethic requires a great rest ethic. Recovery isn’t laziness. It’s preparation. Sleep, movement, reflection, time with people you love… those aren’t distractions from performance. They are the fuel for it. If you never step away, you eventually run on empty. And when your tank is empty, your focus, energy, patience, and decision-making all suffer. High performers don’t just train hard. They recover hard. So here’s a simple question worth asking yourself: Are you as intentional about your recovery as you are about your work? Because the best in the world know— rest isn’t the opposite of work… it’s part of it. 💪
