Ero presente sugli spalti e sono stata oggetto di offese razziste da parte di adulti sostenitori avversari. “Scimmia”, “mangia banane”, insomma il solito repertorio in questi casi. Fa strano doverlo scrivere nel 2026. Ancora più strano se si pensa che queste parole sono arrivate da due donne, probabilmente due madri, rivolte a una ragazza più giovane. Da istruttrice ogni giorno lavoro con bambini, insegno, educo e cerco di trasmettere valori sportivi e umani. Bambini che sono lo specchio dell’Italia di oggi: diversi, mescolati, reali. Per questo colpisce ancora di più. Perché è facile parlare di sport come strumento educativo, di rispetto e inclusione. Poi però basta un episodio come questo per rendersi conto che, per qualcuno, il colore della pelle viene ancora prima di tutto il resto. Dopo quanto accaduto, la mia società si è mossa immediatamente per segnalare l’episodio e sono arrivate le scuse da parte della società avversaria. Ma non sono stati individuati e nemmeno puniti i responsabili. Di fatto, non è successo nulla. Come al solito con qualche riga si é chiusa la questione. E questo, forse, è l’aspetto più triste. Perché episodi del genere non dovrebbero passare sotto silenzio, né essere trattati come qualcosa di normale o inevitabile. Continuerò a fare il mio lavoro, in palestra e in campo. Continuerò ad educare anche i figli di chi oggi dimostra di avere ancora pregiudizi e di usare parole che non dovrebbero più esistere. Continuerò a cercare di fare ogni giorno un lavoro migliore con i loro bambini. Ma è giusto dirlo chiaramente: non è normale, e non dovrebbe essere accettato.” Non abbiamo nulla da aggiungere a ciò che ha scritto questa ragazza. Avendola sentita privatamente, sappiamo quanto sia rimasta male per l’accaduto, molto più di ciò che traspare dalle sue parole. Sarebbe bello che il mondo del basket, tutto, le facesse sentire un’ondata di affetto. Un affetto che riuscisse a lenire, almeno in parte, il male che continua a fare il razzismo.

But his story is not unique. Tends of thousands of children killed. Many more have had their parents, brothers, sisters, family, friends killed by Israeli snipers or Israeli bombs. We cannot let this continue.
