** Information Release ** On Friday, March 20, 2026, at approximately 7:58 a.m., career and volunteer units from Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to the report of a fire in the 3900 block of Taylors Mountain Farm Lane.

** Information Release ** On Thursday, March 19, 2026, at approximately 7:54 pm, career and volunteer units from Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to the report of a fire in the 2000 block of Proffit Road.

• Make sure your fireplace has a sturdy screen to stop sparks from flying into the room. Ashes should be cool before putting them in a metal container, a safe distance from your home. • Test smoke alarms at least once a month.

• Have a three-foot "kid-free zone" around open fires and space heaters. • Remember to turn portable heaters off when leaving the room or going to bed.
