@HistoricalBrum We don’t keep our own spreadsheet but that’s because we don’t need to as there are various websites who track individual player performance for us. We can certainly look at fluctuations in player performance as we did with Price & Heggebø on this week’s pod

@AlbionAnalysis Genuine question; do you track all players throughout the season in terms of cumulative stats? Would make fascinating viewing. Molumby is a case in point; has some games where he’s imperious & others less so but would be interesting to see an ongoing/overall stat spread for all.

@rickyleegriffi We respectfully disagree, those numbers were exceptional Also, prior to the red we’d already had more shots on target in 36 mins than in the full 90 of 6/8 league games under ER so it seems odd to put it all down to the red when we’d created a lot of chances before that

@AlbionAnalysis I just don’t think 1.28 xG p90 average((including the Ramsay games) compared to 2.28 against the 4th worst defence in the league shows more than a regression to the mean. We didn’t do much different to what we did under Mason. It was OOP approach that changed imo

@AlbionAnalysis I don’t think they indicate a massive shift in our fortunes. Nothing this same group hasn’t shown themselves to be capable of already.

@rickyleegriffi You need both to win games Ricky, we never said those numbers alone mean we will win 3-0 every week. We merely highlighted a very clear improvement Mozza has made. We have always attacked well even against poor defences, Sheff Weds for example so it can’t be taken for granted

@AlbionAnalysis I’m just saying that isn’t a predictor of future success. We attacked fine against a poor defence. The impressive thing is keeping them out

✍️ My latest @BBCSport article looks at how James Morrison has made watching Albion fun again. 😊 ⚽️ I analyse the ways he’s increased our attacking threat with a simple strategy but sophisticated tactics. ⁉️ As always, thoughts are welcomed! 🔗 bbc.co.uk/sport/football… #wba

@rickyleegriffi Yes but equally the most shots in the box all season and most touches in the box for over 3 years is an improvement. You’re treating us as if we’ve met the league average every week - we haven’t so to see us improve in that regard is welcome

@AlbionAnalysis My points more is it real improvement. We performed just over league average against 10 men. We have ways to score, set pieces and breakaways. Those are the ways we looked like scoring anyway

This is phenomenal. It’s worth noting that this is not all down to the sending off. Before the red we’d already had: 9️⃣ shots 3️⃣ on target 3️⃣ chances with an xG of 0.2 or better We went at Hull from the off and were all over them before the red card came! #wba

I have a theory on Jayson Molumby. When Alex Mowatt is there I feel he lets Mowatt do the progressive passing and often passes the responsibility on. But when Mowatt is absent he really steps up and shows he’s technically a lot better than many give him credit for! #wba

Thanks to @CJHall83 for the invite. Good timing after one of Albion’s best performances in a long time, so there were lots of positives to discuss! #WBA

Some startling stats about how Mozza has transformed both Price and Heggebø. No spoilers but the long and short is, it’s amazing what happens if you get good players into good attacking positions and give them chances 🤔 #wba

🎧 Just a reminder, due to Mother’s Day commitments, this week’s pod will be later than usual & will go live on Monday rather than Sunday as normal. 🎙️@CJHall83 will be joined by @sportbbcwm’s @SteveHermon and, with a win over Hull to discuss, it’ll be worth the wait😊 #wba

@Carl__P_ @musebag1 @psclarke86 Not what we said, we said he’s important if you play a certain way (which was the way Mason & CC played). It seems what you dislike is not so much Alex Mowatt but rather that style of play - which is fair enough but he was important in the system that got us in the play offs

@musebag1 @Carl__P_ @psclarke86 Simply not true. He’s been in the top two Albion players for chance creation for three seasons now. It’s fine if you don’t like him and in this system we are better without him but it doesn’t change how important he’s been to chance creation in other systems

@AlbionAnalysis @Carl__P_ @psclarke86 style of play doesn’t cover the fact he’s too slow and takes too many touches which allows the opposition to get set quickly and nullify any threat going forward
