Half of the world’s bluebells and European badgers are found in Britain. Few things are more quintessentially British. They would make a most fitting subject for one of our new banknotes.

This glaring double standard has to end. If Israel can proudly exist as a homeland for the Jewish people prioritising Israeli interests and identity, why is it branded “racist” or taboo to say England should be for the English? National self-determination and cultural preservation are hailed as universal rights… except when it comes to England or other Western nations. We’re told borders and demographic continuity matter until they apply to us. England’s history stretches back millennia: ancient roots, a continuous people, language, and culture that have endured invasions, empires, and change. We have every legitimate right to protect and prioritise our heritage, just as any nation does. Fairness demands consistency, no exceptions, no hypocrisy. If ethnic and cultural homelands are valid for some, they’re valid for all. England for the English isn’t extremism; or Ireland for the Irish. The selective rules stop here.

This is a completely foolish reading of the situation. It is precisely because of “green” energy policies that we have the level of energy insecurity we do. We could have large gas and oil reserves and nuclear power, but government instead focus on the fantasy of “net zero”.
Philip Proudfoot@PhilipProudfoot

Britain could run out of gas in days. I'd say argument for total energy transition to renewable energy is looking pretty solid about now.

‘There is a genocide happening in this island because it is being taken over by different people that are not indigenous to this land.’ Former advisor to Boris Johnson Thomas Corbett-Dillon gives a damning indictment of the impact of mass migration on the UK.

@hereward1069 Yes, component - an essential component. Ancestry is not qualified by 'generations'. You either have an ancestral tie to a nation, or you do not.

Ancestry is a component of ethnicity. One either has an ancestral tie to a nation or one does not. No amount of adoption of a host nation's culture can change that. This is not a value judgement, simply a statement of reality.

The English people were not an abstract idea or a purely legal category. They were the product of a long historical process in which generations living in the same place gradually formed a distinct people. Yet today it has become common to speak as though English identity has no historical substance at all, as though it were merely a label that can be claimed at will. That assumption sits uneasily with the historical record.

@AlecCave @benhabib6 It’s a recognition that everyone else is already in tribe and those tribes are diametrically opposed to our individualism. We had better form a tribe if we want to stand any chance of stopping what’s going to be inevitable otherwise.

What @benhabib6 fails to understand is that reawakened ethnic consciousness among the indigenous British - English, Scottish, Welsh - is not a threat to the union. The demand for self-determination does not necessarily lead to separatism. Self-determination means that a people have the right to choose whether they are in a political union or not. If anything, the rekindling of our organic identities in the face of mass immigration may well bring us closer together. What is a threat to the union is if it is perceived by people to be an obstacle to reversing their demographic demise in their homeland. If unionists condemn the inevitable resurgence of ethnic consciousness, especially among the English, it is in fact they who jeopardise the union. They need to be conscientious of this.

Polling shows that "the overwhelming majority of English people  – across ethnic groups, education levels, ages and politics – agree that race and ethnic background is no barrier to being English." Ethno-obessives such as @Sargon_of_Akkad should take note. moreincommon.org.uk/latest-insight…

It was great being on with @danwootton yesterday discussing the complex issue of ethnicity. @_AdvanceUK stands for the United Kingdom in all its parts. We are committed to the Union. How could any political party stand for the Union while championing English, Scottish, Welsh or Ulster ethnic nationalism? Such a position would be inherently self contradictory and would fuel separatism. Down that road would lie division and the breaking up of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As for ethnicity itself, the subject is highly nuanced, especially for a country like the UK, with an ancient and changing racial mix. Pure blood politics is a very dangerous game. Ethnicity is not just defined by one’s ancestors but by linguistic, cultural and historic ties, amongst other things. If you do not believe me, look up its definition. Yes, there is an English ethnicity but it is not purely racially defined. Winston Churchill was by parentage only “half English”. Yet no one can deny he was entirely ethnically English and British. There is no place for racism in any civilised society (or political party).
