Omg 2 million would be awesome to play with. Take 1 mil and put it in the few NEOS funds average out about 10 to 12% There is your 100 to 120k easy. That other million though, would be making close to 300 to 350k So 400 to 470k should be something a person should make off of 2 mil, then you live off 100k pay taxes and invest the rest for 3 years and guess what you now have closer to 500 to 600k to play with every year.

@trades_hayes But you can’t use the income from SPY… that’s the whole point of dividend funds is that you can use the cash it provides every month.

Something I’m glad I learned very quickly is that total returns matter more than income. Having almost 20% less gains by holding JEPQ with $100,000 means you have $20,000 less over 5 years. Thats a big damn deal. And JEPQ does pretty well. There’s way uglier examples

Private securities. Credit, direct lending, asset backed securities, triple-net product. Special situations/distressed - LP interests. Public securities introduce entirely too much vol while you have no idea of the quality of the docs/covenants. The DD in an LP interest is entirely up to you.

If you have the capital you can really tap this button and never work again. 2026 is all about grinding toward that capital.
