When you start trading your prop firm funded account, remove the thought of wanting to make money on the account before the payout date, or wanting to hit a specific amount. These thoughts invite pressure, and pressure invites a lot of problems overtrading, taking trades that don’t fit your plan, over-risking, etc. I can recall when firms had a maximum of 30 trading days. I blew countless accounts at 7 or 8% profit around day 20 or so, before reaching the 30-day maximum. I couldn’t be patient enough to wait for good setups in those remaining few days, so I would rush into random trades, and that led to many blown accounts. Sometimes I even blew them with just a day or two left until the maximum trading days. Even in the funded stage, some traders, when they first get funded, set big targets specific amounts they want to make. Because of this, they risk too much and take a lot of trades just to reach that target. Others, simply because they don’t want to miss a payout cycle, take unplanned trades out of fear of missing out. This often leads to losses or drawdowns. But nowadays, we don’t have maximum trading days. You can trade for as long as you want, especially with firms like @fundingpips . You can also get paid every two weeks. All you have to do is shift your mindset with prop firms. Think this way: if you miss this bi-weekly payout cycle, your account is still intact, and the market might be better before the next cycle. There will always be opportunities to trade and make money. Trade without placing too much hope on making a certain amount of money. Keep trading only when good setups present themselves. The amount you can make is unlimited don’t restrict yourself or put pressure on yourself. Take your time and give yourself time.
