Today’s Daily Pick is from Trainer AletsisG (@AletsisG) in Mexico 🇲🇽!
This postcard showcases a vibrant piece of urban street art located in Álvaro Obregón, Mexico City (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Álvaro_Ob…). It honors Mexican ancestry, cultural pride, and pre-Hispanic roots. It belongs to a community visual arts initiative aimed at transforming urban walls into open-air public galleries that celebrate regional identity.
The mural shows a stylized profile of an indigenous warrior wearing a traditional Jaguar headdress. In Aztec and Mayan cultures, the jaguar represented strength, tactical cunning, and an intimate connection to the spirit world. The figure features sharp facial ornamentation, skeletal teeth reminiscent of Día de los Muertos iconography, and a large turquoise-colored circular ear flare typical of Mesoamerican nobility.
In Mesoamerica, the jaguar was revered as the ultimate apex predator and a lord of the underworld. The Aztec Jaguar Warriors (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_wa…) wore full suits and realistic pelts where the open jaws of the jaguar framed the warrior's face, symbolizing that they had absorbed the strength and stealth of the beast. Similarly, Mayan rulers and elite fighterswore complex wooden and feather-adorned jaguar headdresses to signify royal lineage, cosmic power, and divine right during ceremonies or warfare.
The piece was created by the street art group Jaguart Colectivo. Their work frequently blends contemporary graffiti methods with historical imagery to reclaim public areas and revitalize neighborhoods through ancestral symbolism.

Today’s second “Honorable” mention is from Trainer AletsisG (@AletsisG) in Mexico 🇲🇽!
This postcard showcases a vibrant piece of urban street art located in Coyoacán, Mexico City (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyoacán) painted on one of the dedicated community street walls utilized during the Meeting of Styles (meetingofstyles.com/03-05-october-…) network showcase.
It features a stylized woman depicted with flowing, glowing light-blue and white hair lines that contrast against a dark background. Her torso reveals an exposed, glowing skeletal ribcage, a common motif in Mexican art referencing life, death, and heritage. On the left, a large wolf emerges with fierce, glowing orange eyes, symbolizing a spiritual or natural guide. In the upper right corner, her hand reaches toward a large, bright celestial orb resembling a sun or a full moon.
It was created by the Mexican street artist YUCA (instagram.com/yukarte77?igsh…). YUCA (often known as Yuka Besete) is an established Mexican street artist and graffiti writer who has been active in the urban art scene since 1996. Operating out of Mexico City, he is best known for his large-scale aerosol murals and is a key figure in the BST CREW and FunYuka Team. His work often focuses on celebrating Mexican pop culture, historic figures, and national pride, making his art a prominent feature of the Mexico City landscape.

Geez! Is today “Creepy Friday”?
This postcard features a Neo-Traditional Japanese style digital illustration of a Hannya Mask (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannya). The artwork is not a mural but is located somewhere in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuauhtémo…).
The artwork features a metallic red demonic face with sharp fangs, glowing yellow eyes, and prominent horns. It is surrounded by stylized floral imagery, including blooming lotus flowers and traditional Japanese waves, in shades of deep blue, pink, and violet.
In traditional Japanese Noh theater, the Hannya mask depicts a woman who has transformed into a demon due to obsession, jealousy, or profound sorrow. In modern street and tattoo art culture, it is frequently used as a powerful protective symbol to ward off evil spirits and bad luck.
