@hangarhockey Save this for after the Vegas series. He's played 2 good games/5 this series and against 5'8 defensemen. Wait til he plays a team from the West.

Since I’m hearing a local radio station suggested this trade offer to the NYR, we must know Would you rather trade #8 overall, Cole Perfetti and Dylan Demelo for one of JT Miller or Mika Zibinejad OR Would you rather come swimming with me in the Red River upon its completion?

@NikLynam He actually inherited the team you want, not the one we have. They had just finished trading all their core stars over 2 seasons(Hossa, Kovalchuk, Rollover etc) for journeyman vets (ladd, buff), picks and had a bunch of low ceiling prospects with key roles (burmi, kane)

Once we collectively realize the Winnipeg Jets are in essentially the same spot as the Atlanta Thrashers were when they first returned it’s gonna open a lot of minds to how silly the idea of trading a top 10 pick or future 1sts is Because 15 years of Chevy has us in an awfully identical spot as what he inherited

@DhaliwalSports The Jets will definitely be in a position where they need to take a risk on a questionable commodity. Elias Pettersson, Kotkaniemi, someone where there is a calculated chance of success but where it could ultimately be a huge failure when it comes to the C position.

Sounds like Charlie Coyle and Columbus are getting close on a new contract. Would take 1 of the top centre’s off of the July 1st free agent market.

@NikLynam It wasn't a career high in minutes for neither Connor nor Scheif.. so.. wrong again, and to make a statement like "sacrificing team success for individual numbers" is insane.. is that truly what you think is happening here?.. sounds more like you just plain hate these players

@AlexAnspikian All career highs because they played career high in minutes, and sacrificed the teams success for individual numbers That ain’t quite the leap we think it is

@NikLynam Connor, Scheif Vilardi all career highs.. so they're not on their 36 year old legs yet as you make it seem

@NikLynam Ball is in Chevys court but with a very real short leash, and I think that's appropriate. Build a real second line and if it doesn't produce results then break it up

@NikLynam If that fails.. with most of the core being well under 35 and under good cap $$ you have plenty of time to still get assets back when a true decline is at play.. why do it when the core keeps progressing. Secondary skill and depth is easier to obtain than a good core

@NikLynam I think we can all agree the roster was somewhat mismanaged last year.. so to close the door on this core based on last season is a mistake.

@NikLynam Calling it bullshit without any factual discernation says everything about your credibility to be honest. Marleau and Thornton were 36 when they won the cup. Connor is 30. Scheif is 33, Vilardi is 26, Morrissey is 31. To say that there isn't a 3-4 yr window is the real bullshit

This is a bullshit take honestly. The problem is, the Jets ARE in the late Marleau/Thorton period (with much less playoff success). Mike Grier stepped into the worst available job I. The league when he took over. They were a mess. Doing that here is suicide. Especially for these 4. It’s not a big enough, nor good enough core to justify suicide.

@NikLynam Getting picks and prospects through capitalization brings zero guarantees, if anything history proves its volatility. Saying this core has 0 competitive present is the true fallacy. You're working in extreme exaggeration on both sides of your statement.

@AlexAnspikian Capitalizing on them does the opposite. Is guaranteed this fanbase a real future. Because right now, there’s 0 competitive present. And 0 future coming. What you’re suggesting will be far, far more damaging to this market, you just haven’t realized it yet.

@NikLynam My opinion is we have a good core (regardless of your thoughtson achievement). They work well together, they want to win, and they're in at reasonable $. You have to build around them until their era is done.. quitting on them does nothing for the fan base.. one good run does!

@NikLynam Drafting high has no guarantees on timelines or the skill of the next core. Look at Edmonton, Buffalo, Anaheim.. it can take way longer because your next core doesn't work well together or never reaches potential then it's a 15+ yr rebuild
