@masseffect_peom I don't know, looks kinda silly with James just randomly firing at nothing while the other 2 are just standing there. The scene looks more awkward this way. Still, don't mind it being optional.

@masseffect_peom You know I was hoping that there was some super secret hidden code somewhere where You would fly the Normandy in the battle of Earth scene and destroy Reaper fighters, maybe a few destroyers and protect sword fleet. Such a missed opportunity from Biowares part.

In the upcoming update, the Omega DLC and the base game will complement each other. Bray (Aria's assistant from the DLC) is now in Purgatory. You can trigger some brief and previously unused dialogue where he introduces himself to Shepard. The DLC itself now requires agreeing to Aria's proposal. If you don't want to play it, just tell her no. If you do agree, you'll first need to help Aria seize control of the Blue Suns, Eclipse, and Blood Pack by finishing base game quests. Those mercs will then show up during the DLC, which unlocks after the Citadel Coup. #MassEffect #bioware

ReactOS, the open source project to create a Windows 2000 (well, 2003 Server) compatible system, is now 30 years old. I downloaded the latest release and took it for a spin to see what 30 years of development has accomplished. It’s worth noting: I am *exactly* the target demographic for ReactOS. I’m an Open Source / Free Software advocate with a deep appreciation for the Windows 2000 era of Windows. (Heck, I worked on Windows 2000 at Microsoft.) I find the idea of ReactOS to be exciting. So much so that I find myself willing to overlook significant issues in order to use this system. A few quick thoughts on ReactOS 0.4.15 (the latest release) after trying to use it for the last 2 days: - It doesn’t really work on actual hardware. At all. I tried. Couldn’t get it to boot on… anything. Old or new. Anyone with dreams of a modern, Windows 2000-ish (but Open Source) laptop… give up that dream. Hardware support is significantly worse than Linux in the mid-1990s. - Virtual machines being the only option, I tried it under both QEMU and VirtualBox. VirtualBox worked a bit better, but both were not as speedy as I would expect. (Far, far slower than actual Windows 2000 running with the same VM settings on the same hardware.) - Crashes. So many crashes. Copy a file? Crash. Run a Setup.exe? Crash. Open a few pre-loaded applications? Crash. - Software binary compatibility was not bad, but not perfect. Some software installed and ran as expected. Others quietly failed. Others… crashed. Because crashing is what ReactOS does. - ReactOS looks kinda like Windows. Mostly. A lot of visual details are a little… off. It’s like an Uncanny Valley version of Windows 2000. It’s almost disorientating. Try as I might I couldn’t get ReactOS to look quite right. Ironically, Linux using a good Windows 9x/2k theme looks more like Windows 2000 than ReactOS. If I could get it to stop crashing… and add support for running on actual hardware… ReactOS seems like it would be a usable system. But, if I’m being honest, Linux + Wine + a good Windows theme makes for a better, more stable, faster, more compatible Windows clone… than ReactOS. reactos.org/blogs/30yrs-of…

@masseffect_peom Ya I think the writing for Leviathan was not thought out enough. In the war assets it mentions that they brought a number of artifacts with them and used them against enemy lines. If this was the case, they could have just use them to defeat the destroyer on earth.

@AlexB0814 If we take the writing into account, Leviathan happens pretty late in the war... we don't get to see them do it again as Earth happens soon after. Plus, their interaction with the world is limited by the number of artifacts, and the game makes it clear there's not a lot of them.

Most people don't know that the ending of Leviathan, which is normally silent, was actually meant to have a unique soundtrack - fully tailored to the scene. It has now been restored as part of our Enhanced DLC Integration module, and is coming tomorrow. :) #MassEffect #bioware

Hi to all of the new followers from the past 2 weeks (really wasn't expecting such a large response to my posts, wow). I'm currently busy as hell working on my upcoming project, releasing on Christmas (in like 2 days). Dedicating time to journalistic posts after that. There's so much I learned about this franchise and its troubled development throughout the thousands of hours that I spent creating stuff, digging through the files, the original scripts, and bits of information... ...and as I'm moving away from modding soon, I figured putting all the info/knowledge out there would be a decent parting gift to this beloved franchise. To my old followers and supporters, as always, I thank each and every one of you for sticking along for the ride. I promise ORGG is going to be amazing. #MassEffect #bioware

@masseffect_peom I know one of the ideas was that each Reaper would have been unique and resemble the race they harvested. We sort of saw a glimpse of that at the end of ME2. Too bad all we saw was the generic copy/paste versions. Would be a cool idea for the Reaper Retrofit mod.

I absolutely can't wait to post about the original vision for the Reapers that the ME2 writer Chris L'Etoile had - which was discarded after he left. It synergizes perfectly with ME3's ending and would've added tremendous depth to the Reapers as antagonists. #MassEffect #bioware

@masseffect_peom "The Illusive Man fight Bioware never talked about" I am guessing you are referring to when they originally planned the illusive man to turn into a Reaper monster and had to actually battle him.

There's gonna be a lot more of these "journalistic" posts. So much to cover when it comes to ME3. The original Rannoch Reaper encounter... the Illusive Man fight Bioware never talked about... and how one decision almost made Destroy the least popular choice. #MassEffect #bioware

@masseffect_peom Please tell me you’re planning another write up/thread of it? I’m fascinated by all the cut content and ideas, even if it is heartbreaking. ME3 disappointed me a lot, but I just need to know what it COULD have been if it wasn’t rushed out the door.

@masseffect_peom The Eden Prime massacre is interesting, but doesn't this contradict Hackett later on then after Cerberus Abductions when he says attacking civilians isn't Cerberuses usual thing?

Brief Essay ✍️ There's a common belief that Javik was "cut out and sold as Day 1 DLC". Bioware, naturally, claims that's not true. So what's the truth, and what was the scope of Javik's original involvement? Having spent thousands of hours modding the trilogy, I have an answer: Cross-referencing both the game files and a late stage version of the original script allows one to put together the puzzle pieces. Pictures with examples are attached. ⭕️ Yes, Javik was originally heavily featured in the story. ⭕️ Eden Prime was very different: 1. During the flashback sequences, you play as Javik and fight the Collectors. Harbinger also returned. This is further confirmed by game files, as a "combat" version of Javik gets setup before each flashback. 2. Kai Leng leads Cerberus on Eden Prime. After they realize Shepard reached Javik first, Leng gives the order to massacre the colony. Eden Prime is gone, and the massacre is framed on Shepard. The framing also ties into how much Ashley/Kaidan trust you later on. 3. Due to Shepard's ties to Cerberus and limited evidence, the Council is very skeptical. Udina's future betrayal is foreshadowed as he immediately votes on having Shepard arrested. You watch the debate and must defend yourself. Failing to convince the Council results in your Spectre Status being STRIPPED. ⭕️ In the game files, most situations where your Spectre Status is called upon actually have a (working) branch in case it was stripped. ⭕️ After the Coup, the Asari Councilor brings up Thessia specifically because she hopes Javik can interact with the beacon and find the Catalyst. ⭕️ On Thessia and afterwards, Javik has Vendetta's role. He enters a "trance state" while interacting with the beacon, and gets abducted by Kai Leng who wants to finish his job from Eden Prime. ⭕️ On Cronos Station, you rescue Javik and he helps you fight against Leng. After the DLC-ification, voice lines referencing "Javik" were re-recorded to instead reference the "Prothean VI". The call from the Asari Councilor on the Normandy was also (poorly) rewritten. #MassEffect #bioware

@masseffect_peom I am guessing you are referring to the video they showed at E3 which showed cerberus as enemies on Rannoch instead of geth and an actual chase sequence with the reaper.

Module 1 Demonstration: Star Charts 1. Unlike our competitor, Expanded Galaxy Mod, ORGG makes each restored Cluster optional via Star Charts, purchasable at the Spectre store. New ones gradually unlock as you play the story. 2. To accomodate the war narrative, Star Charts are recontextualized. Access to some Clusters is prohibited for strategic reasons, and your Spectre authority can override that. 3. There's some quests whose entire scope is making you scan a planet. That's just wasted potential. One such quest, from Barla Von, has been expanded, and now introduces the "Star Chart" feature to the player. This makes it feel like a natural part of the game. These restored Clusters/Systems will contain the bulk of the new content from ORGG, as my goal is to pair optional content together, and thus, make ORGG more modular using the game itself rather than external tools. #MassEffect #bioware

Introducing ORGG: Orikon's Revised Galaxy Gameplay Originally conceptualized 3 years ago but never released, this passion project is finally coming for the LE on Christmas 2025. There's too much to cover in a single post, so today, I'm serving you a brief overview. Posts featuring deep dives into each module, including demonstrations, are already being prepared. This is a massive undertaking, separated into 3 modules: 1. Enhanced Galaxy Map - Cut Content restoration: War Assets, 5+ Clusters, 20+ voice lines from EDI, Traynor, and Glyph. - New content: Based on Multiplayer, the Infiltrator game, and the Datapad app. Say hi to Randall Ezno. - Star Charts: Access to restored clusters can be purchased with Star Charts -- now recontextualized to fit #MassEffect 3, and gradually unlocking as you play. - Exploration, enriched: The number of things you can find is greatly expanded. As you explore, there'll sometimes be moments where you have to make choices. Delivery of those is stylized after the Leviathan DLC. - Cross-interactions: Things you find, or choices you make, may result in new interactions or opportunities elsewhere. - Number Redistribution: Not a rebalance! But Jacob will no longer have half the strength of an entire fleet. 2. N7 Special Ops - Optional system: Authorize the N7 Special Ops and send them on missions across the galaxy. - Lore/Context taken directly from the defunct Datapad App. - Randomized mission % chance. Find upgrades during Galaxy Map exploration. - Rewards are deeply impactful. Powerful weapons, changes to enemies, etc. 3. Enhanced DLC Integration - Port of my existing OT project from 2023. - Leviathan and Omega DLC properly woven into the overarching story, including cut content restoration. - Weapons and gear no longer restricted to Stores at absurd prices -- instead they're tied into Modules 1 + 2. - DLC enemies like Cerberus Dragoons woven into base game missions. #MassEffect #bioware

@masseffect_peom 1. Sorry I meant the Suicide Mission Overhaul mod. 2. That's cool, I didn't know that. I was just asking because the LE3 diversification mod added AA guns to that mission and made it more dependant on Garrus's survival (AA guns if alive, harvesters bombing everything if not)

@AlexB0814 1. What is that mod? Never heard of it. 🤔 2. No. Palaven is one of the most polished levels in the game, alongside Sur'kesh. Very little cut content or lack of polish there. Some LE-specific bugs to fix, but that should be the Community Patch's job (sadly it isn't).

Time to get back into the game, and on November 25th, all is revealed. The Christmas Project wasn't unveiled on N7 Day because, quite frankly, the creative vision wasn't fully defined. I'd hate to announce a mechanic or feature, set up expectations, only to end up cutting it. Thus, a decision was made to postpone until all pieces fell into their place. This project is a colossal undertaking, and scope-wise, my biggest release to date. All your questions will be answered. You will be so hyped, and you will be so proud of us -- the modding community. #MassEffect #bioware
