I continue to follow the situation in the Middle East with dismay. Like other regions of the world, it is torn apart by war and violence. We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many defenseless victims of these conflicts. What wounds them wounds all of humanity. The death and pain caused by these wars is a scandal for the entire human family and a cry that rises to God!

@Youclidean @UncleDynamite In the book, he could go back to Earth and said maybe he would one day. He was much older and had arthritis from Erid's gravity, and he wasn't sure he wanted to make the journey alone for 4 years. Plus, he had work to do on Erid.

@UncleDynamite My only complaint is I think they softened the ending a touch - unless my recollection of the book is incorrect?
My memory of the book is "he couldn't come back" rather than "chose not to for now"

Ok, first impressions of Project Hail Mary: There couldn’t be a better, more faithful visual re-telling of the book imaginable. It’s really quite beautiful and very moving when it’s supposed to be and hilarious and exciting all the other times. But the visuals! It leaps off the screen with color and light and astonishing detail besides. Easily the best thing @philiplord and @chrizmillr have done in their already astonishing careers.
Go see it in a movie theater. Trust me. And try the popcorn.
